Moose have a pretty unique way of getting to their favorite snacks. Their long legs and tall bodies help them reach high branches, while their flexible lips make it easy to grab leaves and strip them right from the trees.

A pretty special family to encounter in Grand Teton National Park. 🏔️🦢

These young trumpeter swans may look a little different from their parents right now, but don’t worry, the ugly duckling phase is temporary! Cygnets start out with gray and brown feathers and gradually grow into the bright white plumage of adult swans. Once full grown they have a wing span of around 8 feet, making them the largest flight waterfowl in North America.

As moose finish growing their antlers this time of year, they shed the velvet that supplied them with blood and nutrients during development. Once the velvet comes off, the freshly hardened antlers can look a little bloody, but is a normal part of the annual antler cycle.

Nature isn’t always pretty, but it’s always fascinating. 🫎🏔️
