Every great adventure has a final chapter, and ours was definitely one for the books.

After an incredible two weeks exploring Spain, Italy, and France, our journey home started at 3:30 AM on Thursday when we left our hotel for the airport in Paris, ready to begin the long trip back to Florida.

That's when things started to unravel.

Our first flight was delayed three hours due to weather from the night before. Once we finally boarded, we spent another hour sitting on the runway while maintenance crews fixed an issue with the aircraft.

By then, we knew our original connection was impossible to make. We were rebooked on a later flight that would get us home Friday morning. Not ideal, but manageable.

Then that flight was canceled too.

When we landed in Chicago, tornado sirens were sounding throughout O'Hare. We spent hours waiting in the baggage claim area until security reopened around 3:30 AM so we could check in for yet another flight.

At that point, we had 5 kids who did an impressive job of sleeping wherever they could find space: airport chairs, luggage carts, and even the floor.

Our new departure was scheduled for 7:30 PM Friday evening.

Then came more delays.

And more delays.

And even more delays.

Twenty-eight hours after arriving in Chicago, we finally took off at 10:20 PM Friday night and arrived home around 2:00 AM Saturday, almost 48 hours after we originally left our Paris hotel.

In total, what should have been a long travel day turned into an exhausting two-day marathon of delays, cancellations, weather, maintenance issues, airport floors, and far too little sleep.

But here's the thing: every single delay was forgotten the moment we walked through our front door.

The memories we made celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary, cruising through the Mediterranean, experiencing Disneyland Paris, and exploring Paris as a family were worth every inconvenience along the way.

Travel isn't always perfect. Sometimes it's magical castles and breathtaking views. Sometimes it's tornado sirens, sleeping kids on airport floors, and endless terminal benches. But the stories that come from both are the ones we'll be telling for years.

And after a little extra sleep, we're already talking about where to go next. ✈️❤️

Our final full day in France was spent exploring Paris, and it was everything we hoped it would be.

We started the day navigating the Metro like locals and set out to see as much of the city as possible. We visited some of Paris's most iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre. Seeing these places in person after years of seeing them in photos was an incredible experience.

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without enjoying a fresh baguette, browsing countless shops, and picking up a few souvenirs along the way. (Let's just say we may have spent a little more money than planned! 😅)

By the end of the day, our feet were definitely feeling it (we walked more than 13 miles) but every step was worth it. From the beautiful architecture and historic landmarks to the energy of the city itself, Paris left a lasting impression on all of us.

There is so much more to see than we could fit into a single day, and I would absolutely love the opportunity to return someday. Paris, thank you for the memories, the adventure, and the reminder that some places really do live up to the hype.

To wrap up our incredible two-week adventure through Spain, Italy, and France, we spent four magical days at Disneyland Paris.

Disney has always been a special part of our family's story. From family vacations when the kids were little to countless Disney memories over the years, visiting another Disney park had always been a dream. Being able to experience that dream together made it even more meaningful.

The fourteen of us spent four days exploring the parks, riding familiar favorites, discovering attractions unique to Paris, and soaking in the magic that Disney creates no matter where you are in the world.

What made this trip truly special wasn't just seeing a new Disney destination. It was celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by the people they love most. Watching multiple generations make memories together in a place built on imagination, family, and storytelling felt like the perfect way to end our journey.

The castles may look different, the languages may change, and the parks may be thousands of miles from home, but one thing remains the same: Disney has a way of bringing families together and creating memories that last a lifetime.

And while Disneyland Paris marked the end of the magical portion of our trip, I still have a couple more updates to share! Next up: our time exploring Paris, seeing the Eiffel Tower in person, and then the not-so-magical adventure of trying to get us home through flight delays, cancellations, and airport chaos. Naples day! 🇮🇹

Our crew of 14 set out to explore the Amalfi Coast and beyond. We visited Positano, where the views were absolutely stunning, even if the winding cliffside drive had some of us gripping our seats a little tighter than usual! 😅

From there we made our way to Sorrento, enjoying the beautiful coastal scenery and charming streets before stepping back in time at Pompeii. Walking through the ancient city and seeing Mount Vesuvius towering in the background was incredible and a reminder of just how much history is packed into this part of Italy.

We wrapped up the day the best way possible, with authentic Neapolitan pizza in Naples. 🍕 It definitely lived up to the hype!

Another unforgettable day of making memories together with our big family adventure. ❤️🇮🇹
