💛 Our hearts are with everyone affected by the heartbreaking flooding in the Grand Canyon.

Here in Southern Utah, we know both the beauty and the unpredictability of these landscapes. We also know that news like this can make people wonder whether they should still plan a trip to the North Rim or our area.

Please don't count us out. ❤️

🦖 Looking for something a little different this weekend?

Skip the crowds and go looking for dinosaurs.

Tucked away in the high desert near Kanab is the Moccasin Mountain Dinosaur Tracksite, where you can walk across sandstone that preserves footprints left by dinosaurs nearly 180 million years ago.

And here's the fun part, you have to slow down and really look. The tracks can blend right into the sandstone, so it's a little like a prehistoric scavenger hunt. 🦕

This is one of those “how did I not know this was here?” places that makes exploring Kane County so much fun.

Tip: With summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms in the forecast this weekend, an early morning visit is your best bet. Always check current conditions before heading out, and remember to stay off the fossil surfaces and leave these incredible resources exactly as you found them.

There’s something special about the end of summer in Kane County.

The days are still warm, the nights are comfortable, the skies put on a show and the crowds are starting to thin.

It's a little easier to find a quiet trail, linger a little longer at sunset and enjoy the red rocks without the rush of peak summer.

So before summer slips away, take the scenic route. Stay a few extra nights, make Kanab your basecamp, and enjoy Southern Utah at a slower pace.
