One of my clients who is traveling today told me she’s having her teenager help navigate the airport… and honestly? I LOVE this idea. ✈️

Travel teaches so many real-life skills teens don’t always get to practice day-to-day.

Next trip, let them take the lead on a few things:

📱 Pull up boarding passes & travel documents
🧳 Help locate the bag drop/check-in counter
🛂 Read airport signs and navigate TSA/security
✈️ Watch the departure board and find the gate
⏰ Keep track of boarding time and gate changes
🍔 Find food options nearby
🎒 Be responsible for their own carry-on items
💳 Practice paying for snacks or meals
🗣️ Ask airport employees questions if they’re unsure

It builds confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and honestly prepares them for adulthood way more than we realize.

Airports can feel overwhelming even for adults, so learning these skills with parents nearby is such a smart way to prepare them for future travel! Who knows? One day you might be the one following them through the airport instead!

If you’ve noticed my absence, this is the reason! 🎓
My oldest daughter graduated high school last week, and I’m so proud of her! It has been an amazing year celebrating her and finding little ways to make her feel recognized and special. The last month has been jam-packed with so many fun events and so much planning! Like, so much. The end came way too soon, but it is a relief to have the hard work behind us.

In about two weeks comes the best part… we will be heading to Puerto Rico to celebrate! We were originally booked for Cap Cana, but when date conflicts forced us to change, I realized my heart was elsewhere for such a special trip. Puerto Rico has been near and dear to my husband and I for years, and we could not be more excited to introduce our girls to it. It just feels right. 🇵🇷

To Kennedy: Congratulations, baby girl! You did it! I hope you never stop learning, always seek opportunities to grow, surround yourself with good people, keep your glass half full, take ALL the vacations (booked by Mom, of course), and put more good into the world than you take.

“Disney is so expensive!” — Yeah, well, so is our local Super 8 motel! There are some amazing resort rates with the Disney+ promotion this summer, and it made me curious to know what our local motel costs.

$99 for Disney vs. $267 at Super 8😳

You can literally stay the night at a Disney resort plus buy a park ticket for the same price as one night in your hometown motel. The choice is obvious to me!

I can’t let the day pass without wishing my husband a Happy 41st Birthday with this little throwback to the year we celebrated with a couples trip to Disney. We were eating at Whispering Canyon Café in Wilderness Lodge, where the wait staff notoriously has tons of fun with guests. (iykyk)

We had a fun meal, but when we got the bill, I gave our waiter my own debit card to pay, to which he said, “oooh, sugar momma… nice.” 😆 Fast forward 5 minutes later and he brings out a cupcake to-go for Philip’s birthday and instructs the table beside us to sing “Happy Birthday” to him.

One of the ladies asked, “What’s his name?” …to which our waiter replied…

“He is sugar daddy.”

And that’s the story of how a whole table sang “Happy Birthday, Sugar Daddy” to my husband one year at Walt Disney World.

The countdown is on! Congratulations to “H + C” who just booked their first cruise EVER aboard Virgin Voyage’s Valiant Lady. This time next year, they’ll be relaxing on their sea terrace balcony and celebrating a very special birthday milestone!

This will actually be a land and sea vacation for these two, as they will be flying in a few days early to one of my favorite places—Puerto Rico—before boarding their Eastern Caribbean cruise to Puerto Plata and Bimini Beach Club. I’m so excited to help them plan both portions of this adventure.
