Safe Destinations For Those Hesitant to Leave the Country
✈️ Let's talk about something that's been filling my DMs lately — and I'm here for it, because THIS is exactly why you have a travel advisor.
A lot of you have been reaching out saying you're nervous to travel internationally right now, and especially to Mexico. And listen — I hear you. The headlines are a lot. But here's the thing about headlines: they're designed to grab your attention, not give you the full picture.
So let me give you the full picture. 👇
🌴 Safest All-Inclusive Destinations Right Now
🇹🇨Turks & Caicos
Level 1 — Exercise Normal Precautions
This is as clean as it gets on the State Department's safety scale — the same advisory you'd get visiting Canada. Turks & Caicos is a British Overseas Territory with one of the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean. The water is so clear it looks fake, the all-inclusives here are world-class, and you will have zero complaints. Beaches Turks & Caicos has literally won "Caribbean's Leading Family Resort" 18 years running. EIGHTEEN. That's not an accident.
🇩🇴Dominican Republic — Punta Cana
Consistently Top-Rated
Punta Cana is basically the gold standard of all-inclusive vacation. Nine hundred miles of Caribbean coastline, white-sand beaches, top-tier resort brands (Secrets, Breathless, Hyatt, Palladium — the list goes on), and an entire tourism infrastructure built around keeping guests safe and happy. The resort zones are self-contained, heavily staffed, and built for people who want to unplug completely. There's a reason this is one of the most-booked destinations in the world — year after year after year.
🇯🇲Jamaica
All-Inclusive Paradise
Jamaica is the OG of adult-only all-inclusives — this is literally where the concept was born. Sandals, Couples, and a growing roster of luxury properties have turned Jamaica into a bucket-list destination for good reason. The all-inclusive model here is unmatched: you're on a private, secured resort property with world-class food, entertainment, and beach access. Stay in the resort corridor and you've got a dream trip waiting for you.
🇵🇷Puerto Rico
No Passport Required 🇺🇸
Y'all sleep on Puerto Rico and I will never understand it. It's a U.S. territory — which means NO passport, NO international roaming drama, and the same legal protections you have at home. San Juan has incredible culture, food, history, and nightlife. It's international travel without the international anxiety. If you're on the fence about leaving the country but still want that resort experience? Puerto Rico is your answer.
🇦🇼Aruba
Outside the Hurricane Belt
Aruba sits just 15 miles off the coast of Venezuela but is a world apart from any safety concerns — it's a stable, Dutch Caribbean island with consistently low crime, low humidity, and no hurricane risk. The all-inclusive scene here is smaller but mighty, and the consistent sunshine (350+ days a year) is genuinely unreal. If you want "just let me relax and not think about anything" energy, Aruba delivers every single time.
Now — maybe the beach isn't calling your name right now. Maybe you've been dreaming bigger. Passport? Check. Wanderlust? Also check. Good news: the world is still very much open for business, and there are some genuinely incredible places to explore that are safe, stunning, and absolutely worth the flight. Here are a few that are at the top of my list right now. 🌍
🌍 Safest Places to Travel Abroad Right Now
🇵🇹Portugal
Level 1 — Exercise Normal Precautions
Portugal is having a moment and for very good reason. It ranks consistently in the top 10 on the Global Peace Index, holds a Level 1 U.S. State Department advisory, and offers jaw-dropping history, food, wine, and coastal beauty at a price point that still makes sense. Lisbon and Porto are incredible cities. The Algarve coast will make you question every vacation decision you've ever made. This is Europe, accessible and safe.
🇯🇵Japan
Level 1 — One of the World's Safest
Japan is routinely ranked among the safest countries on earth — Level 1 State Department advisory, low crime, extraordinary public infrastructure, and a culture built on hospitality. Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka — wherever you land, you will feel taken care of. It's a completely different travel experience than a beach resort, but if you've ever wanted to go? There is no better time and no safer destination.
🇮🇪Ireland
Level 1 — Top 3 on Global Peace Index
The Emerald Isle holds a Level 1 advisory and ranks second in the world on the Global Peace Index. Beyond the safety stats, Ireland is one of the most welcoming, stunning, and genuinely fun places to travel. Cliffs of Moher. Galway pubs. Castle ruins and rolling green everything. International tourism spend there grew 10% in 2024 because people keep going back. Easy to see why.
🇲🇽 And Yes — Mexico Is Still on the Table
Here's what I need you to understand about Mexico: it is not one place. It's a massive, diverse country — and the State Department assesses it state by state, not as one blanket advisory.
The tourist hubs you know and love? Cancún, the Riviera Maya, Los Cabos — they're operating completely normally. Millions of people visit every year without incident. The major resort corridors receive serious investment in security precisely because tourism is the economic engine of these regions. Private security at every property. Heavily policed hotel zones. Resort staff trained specifically for guest safety.
The Level 2 advisory on Cancún's state (Quintana Roo) is the same advisory level as France and the United Kingdom. Let that sink in.
The areas you should avoid are specific — six states with Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisories that are nowhere near the major resort zones. That's the context the headlines leave out.
That said — I take the comfort and safety of my clients seriously. That's not just a line. It's literally my job. If you have hesitations about Mexico right now, I am here to help you find the perfect trip somewhere that lets you completely exhale. That's the whole point of working with a travel advisor instead of just clicking "book" on a website at midnight.
Your vacation should feel like a reward — not a risk assessment. Let me do the homework. That's what I'm here for.
