🐋 A Maui winter comes with some pretty incredible visitors

Every year, North Pacific humpback whales travel thousands of miles to Hawaii’s warm waters to mate, give birth, and care for their calves. Watching them off Maui is something I never get tired of 💙

Planning a winter visit? December through April is a great time for whale watching, with peak season usually January through March. From spacious boats to smaller raft adventures, there are different ways to get out on the water depending on the experience you’re looking for.

Looking for a new spot to try in Wailea, Maui? 🍽️

Inside The Shops at Wailea, Aurum Maui has a beautifully designed dining room and a full bar 🍸 Open since 2025, their menu features local ingredients with flavors from around the world.

A nice option if you’re staying nearby or grabbing dinner after shopping.

We had a really nice dinner, and mahalo to our server Justin for being so kind and welcoming!

Here’s what we got:
✔️ Korean BBQ Fried Chicken with toasted macadamias
✔️ Mushroom Chicharron with spiced coconut vinegar, a Filipino Week special
✔️ Paniolo Smash Burger with Maui onions, bacon, and American cheese
✔️ Simple Roots Farm Chicken with roasted potatoes and lemon butter

Plus a little sweet treat with cinnamon and vanilla flavors 🍨

📍 Haleakala Crater at Sunrise | Maui, Hawaii

There’s something so special about watching the colors change over Haleakala Crater before the sun even rises. It’s one of those experiences that’s even more beautiful in person 🤍

Planning to experience sunrise at Haleakala National Park? Here are a few things to know before you go:

✔️ Sunrise reservations are required in advance if you’re driving yourself. Reservations open 60 days in advance, with additional reservations released 2 days before.

✔️ At nearly 10,000 feet above sea level, temperatures can be very cold, especially with wind chill. Bring warm jackets, layers, and gloves.

✔️ Arrive early to find parking and enjoy the changing colors before sunrise.

✔️ Bring snacks and water. There are no food vendors at the summit.

✔️ Sunset is also an incredibly beautiful time to visit and doesn’t require a sunrise reservation.
