TL;DR - I may have a new favorite!

I'm going to be honest with you. I boarded Margaritaville at Sea with questions.
Was this going to be a floating party barge? Wall to wall Jimmy Buffett? An out of control scene I'd spend five days navigating around? It was none of that because truly that isn't the Parrothead vibe.

This cruise converted me. Completely. And I'd recommend it without reservation. Here's why.

It was easy.

Easy to navigate the ship (even for me who is always directionally challenged). Easy to find something to eat. Easy to find a pool chair. Easy to find things to do — or space to do absolutely nothing. Easy to just sit and enjoy the ambiance. Easy to find the never ending soft serve! Even the other passengers were easy. Nobody cutting in front of you at the buffet like the food is going to run out. Nobody rushing the elevator. Everyone was considerate. Relaxed. Happy to be there.

The casino was easy. The entire casino is NO SMOKING. If you've been on other ships you know you often have to walk through the casino to get somewhere, and you might walk out of your way to avoid it. Not here. I like to put a few dollars in the machines but usually dread what I'm walking into. Not on this ship.

And then there was the Hero Salute.
On every single sailing Margaritaville at Sea stops to honor our military and first responders. I was not prepared for how moving it was. It was beautifully done. And on top of that — these heroes can sail on Margaritaville at Sea for free. That detail alone tells you something about who this crui

You knows, there may be a Trippin' With Trida group cruise going so anyone who wants to check this out for themselves can do it with us!

Easy ship. Great crew. Clean. Fun. And a whole lot of heart.

Day 1 on Margaritaville at Sea. And yes, I had questions going in.

Mainly: is this going to be a floating party barge? Because that is not for me.

Verdict so far — no. It's fun and it's festive, but it's not a wild party.

The vibe is relaxed, on island time type of feeling. Nobody's being rowdy, everybody's being easy.

And the decor? They actually thought it through. This isn't "slap the logo on everything and call it themed." It feels intentional. It feels like the brand — in a good way.

Stephen is a Parrot Head and is absolutely in his element.
So there's that.

Margaritaville at Sea came on the scene right around the same time I became a travel advisor.

My husband is a big Jimmy Buffett fan, so the name alone had some appeal. But somewhere along the way I heard some things — and if I'm being honest, I probably formed an unfair opinion.

I have friends who have been and loved it. Others who shrugged. And I've never been able to decide if the difference is the vibe, the price point, the timing, or just the person standing on the deck.

So when the opportunity came up to find out for myself — we booked it.

Next week Stephen and I are boarding Margaritaville at Sea. As a travel advisor it is literally my job to know what I'm talking about before I recommend something. And right now? I don't fully know.

I'm about to find out.

Follow along — I'll give you the honest version. 👇

Guess what I earned — and yes, it will absolutely be framed and hung on my wall. Eventually. 😄

I am now a CLIA ACC — Accredited Cruise Counselor!

And I have to tell you — the studying for this one involved actually taking cruises. I know. Somebody had to do it. And although nobody asked — I also feel strongly that visiting every spa should be a requirement. That should absolutely be on a test somewhere. Just saying.

But it was so much more than just the fun part. It meant researching cruise lines across the board — their styles, their ship sizes, their offerings, who they're really built for. Because there is a cruise out there for almost everyone, but not every cruise line is the right fit for every person. Knowing the difference is literally my job.

This certification exists for one reason as far as I'm concerned — so that when you come to me and say "I want to go on a cruise but I don't really know much else" I can take it from there.

That's exactly who I want to hear from.

I've done the homework. You just have to pack the bags.

If Europe has been your go-to and you're starting to wonder what's next — can we talk about Australia?

I have clients heading there this fall and honestly, researching this trip has done nothing but move it higher on my own list.

Here's what most people don't realize: Australia isn't a destination. It's a continent. The sheer size of it means you could visit three times and have a completely different trip each time.

The Great Barrier Reef. The red earth of the Outback. Ancient rainforests. Cosmopolitan cities. Wildlife you cannot find anywhere else on the planet. It's all in one country — and none of it looks like the others. The adventurous traveler in you doesn't want another trip that looks like the last one. Australia won't give you that problem.

The one thing I'll tell you right now: this is not a trip to throw together last minute. The distance, the planning, the sheer number of decisions — it deserves a real conversation.

Lucky for you, that's exactly what I'm here for.

Have you ever seriously considered Australia? What's been stopping you? Drop it below.

Have you ever done something you were sure you wouldn't enjoy but did it anyways?

I almost talked myself out of river cruising before I ever tried it.

I'm the kind of traveler who wants to pack every single day — new sights, new sounds, hidden gems Google has never heard of. Leisurely is not my default setting. I pictured myself staring out a window, surrounded by people decades older than me, counting down to my afternoon nap.

I was wrong on almost all of it.

Turns out I'm a little older than I think — and river cruisers are a lot younger than you'd expect. The towns are right there. You step off the boat and you're already in the middle of it. No buses, no wasted time. Just instant immersion.

And yes — there is something to be said for watching the world float by with a glass of wine in your hand. I'm not too proud to admit that now. 😄

If you've been against river cruising because it sounds too slow for you — I'd love to have that conversation. It surprised me too. 👇

My client didn't plan for a labor strike. Good thing her travel insurance did.

She was traveling internationally when a strike hit — completely out of nowhere. Flights canceled. No way out. The only option was ground transportation to another country, several hours away, just to get to a border where things were still moving.
That's a long, stressful, expensive day nobody planned for.

Travel insurance covered every bit of it. The transportation. The extra hotel night. The meals. All of it.

Here's what I know after doing this job: nobody has ever called me from a trip and said "I really wish I hadn't bought that insurance." Not once.

But I can tell you exactly what that phone call sounds like when they didn't have it.

Travel insurance isn't a luxury or an upsell. Think of it as an investment in the trip you've already worked hard to plan — the part that protects everything else when the world doesn't cooperate. And the world doesn't always cooperate.

If you're planning a trip and want to know about options for travel insurance, let's talk. I can point you toward your options — the right choice is yours to make.

One of my favorite things about our Annual Conference is the conversations that happen between sessions — travel advisors comparing notes, sharing what's working, being honest about what isn't.

This year one conversation stuck with me.

We were talking about the art of keeping clients engaged when their trip is still months — sometimes years — away. Because that gap between booking and boarding? It's longer than most people expect.

My job doesn't start at booking and it doesn't end when you get on the plane. I'm with you from the first "I've always wanted to go there" all the way through "we need to do that again."

Keeping the excitement alive in the middle is just part of that.

What keeps you excited about a trip while you're waiting for it to arrive? Is it researching restaurants? Pinning things to a board? Watching travel videos at midnight when you should be sleeping? Share with me👇

No wrong answers. I'm genuinely curious.
