Soul of Africa Travel is a boutique travel company that specializes in bespoke journeys to Africa. Our areas of expertise include the wildlife safari regions of Southern Africa and the islands of the Indian Ocean. We are steadily moving our way East and North to add to our current portfolio of offerings. We create journeys that touch all of the senses that make Africa so special: the wildlife, the people, the landscape, the vibrant art, the unique food and the history. We look to book at resorts that share the same ethical and environmentally friendly values that we hold close. This permeates the sustainability of Africa’s wildlife and culture. Soul of Africa utilizes the latest technology to book and facilitate your African Safari experience yet its foundation remains personal communication via the telephone, Skype and/or face-to-face meetings (if local).

🌍 SOUL OF AFRICA TRAVEL IS HEADING BACK TO AFRICA! 🐘

For those who follow along, you know that when we travel, we love to go beyond the safari experience. Along with exploring new destinations and discovering new lodges, we always try to incorporate time to connect with and learn from local communities.

These experiences give us the opportunity to better understand the communities we visit—their challenges, their successes and the incredible people working to create positive change. Just as importantly, we love meeting the dedicated local teams who facilitate these interactions in a thoughtful and respectful way, ensuring that community visits never intrude on daily life.

One of the lodges that we will be visiting on our upcoming month long journey is Thornybush. Here we’ll have the opportunity to visit and learn more about the Thornybush Community initiatives.

We asked the local coordinators a simple question:
“What can we bring that would genuinely be useful?”
Their answer was simple—and something we can all help with. ❤️

📚 Other basic school supplies
These items are always greatly appreciated and help support the educational efforts within the local community.

So, if you’d like to be part of our journey, we’d love to collect school supplies and soccer balls to take with us to Africa!

As families return home from their Fourth of July adventures, I can’t help but find myself dreaming about next summer.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to share some of my most treasured memories with my own children in Africa.

Watching the sunrise over the bush, listening to lions after dark, seeing elephants wander quietly past our vehicle—those are the moments that stay with us. Not because they’re extravagant, but because we experienced them together.

There is something about safari that slows life down.

Shinde Footsteps | Okavango Delta, Botswana

There is something wonderfully grounding about Shinde Footsteps.
Tucked away on the northern edge of the Okavango Delta, this intimate camp offers a safari experience that feels deeply connected to the wilderness around it. Rebuilt in 2023, the camp blends barefoot luxury with the timeless simplicity of a traditional safari.

With just four spacious tents and a maximum of six guests at any one time, every stay feels personal, quiet and immersive. Days are spent exploring the Delta by mokoro, on game drives, walking safaris and night drives, while evenings end around the fire beneath vast African skies.
