Six easy steps to make him fall in love with Disney.

Listen up ladies. An important goal for our first family Disney trip was to make sure my husband had an incredible time at Disney. And if he didn't fall in love, I had to make sure that he would at least agree to come back the following year.

If your non Disney guy is anything like mine, these tips should help. And I know that number 3 is completely unnecessary, but it definitely didn’t hurt!

1. Choose a time of year where he won't melt from the heat. Florida can be HOT, if you want your guy to agree to another trip, you may want to plan for November - April.

2. Buy the Lightning Lanes. Just do it. He's not going to want to stand in long lines.

3. Splurge on the deluxe hotel. Show him the best of what Disney has to offer. Plus, the locations and transportation options of most of these deluxe resorts can't be beat.

4. Don't over plan. Have a rest day and enjoy your resort. Sit by the pool, relax, recharge.

5. Be sure to have one meal a day where you are sitting down and getting off your feet. Book these dining reservations in advance. There's nothing worse than having hungry, cranky kids and no plans on where to eat.

6. Don't make him push the stroller the whole time. Those strollers can be heavy and tricky to navigate in crowds. Step in and share the stroller pushing duty.

Bonus Tip: Do your best to avoid heavy crowds. Use a crowd calendar before booking your vacation. Are these perfect? Of course not. But they can be helpful. When in doubt, try to avoid school vacations - ESPECIALLY the break between Christmas and New Years.

It’s real easy to spend money at Disney World. And not all splurges are worth it. Here are 5 things I don’t mind spending extra money on.

1. Sometimes it’s worth it to book that deluxe resort so that you are closer to the theme parks. Beach club in Boardwalk is within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Grand Floridian Polynesian and the contemporary are just a monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom. The location and transportation options alone can make the splurge worth it.

2. I’m not spending all this money to go and wait in long line after long line when I’m at the parks. I buy the lightning lanes. Both single pass and multi pass.
Yes, even at Animal Kingdom.

3. I don’t always upgrade to a park hopper ticket but when I make this splurge, I’m always so excited about it. Did Fantasmic get rained out on your Hollywood Studios day? No problem. Come back another day just for the show.

4. Before you come for me for this dessert party splurge, I’m going to acknowledge that it is very overpriced. However, having a designated viewing area to watch Happily Ever After is something everyone should get to experience at some point.

5. Book at least one character meal. I’ll tell you why. If you’re at Disney World with young kids who want to meet characters, I’m not waiting in lines to see them. At Disney, time is money and if I can have a nice meal and meet characters at the same time, it’s a win-win.

‼️ Don’t make promises you can’t keep! ‼️

If you’re headed to Disney World with kids, make sure you check that refurbishment schedule.

For example, if you’ll be at Magic Kingdom on November 2nd, make sure you DON’T promise your kids they can ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It will be closed for refurbishment. Disney has not yet announced a reopening date.

Which do you think is better?

Before everything was shut down in 2020, guests staying at a Disney resort were offered Extra Magic Hours. That meant one or two hours of extra park time at a SPECIFIC park. Either one hour in the morning before opening or 2 hours at night after closing. Disney chose the park and the times.

Now, guests staying at a Disney resort get 30 minutes of Early Entry every day at ANY of the 4 Disney theme parks. And only guests staying at a deluxe resort are offered Extended Evening hours twice a week for 2 hours at a specific park after the park closes.

🖤❤️ Having a Disney trip booked is good for the soul. ❤️🖤

I don’t know when I’ll get back to Disney. It’s the first time in a LONG time that I don’t have one to look forward to. And trust me that I know how lucky I’ve been to visit so many times.

So I’ll just have to live through all of you!
