🐾 Celebrating Sally 🖤

Sally called Busch Gardens Tampa home for 54 years. In that time, she became an unforgettable part of our family. Sally was a mother, a peacemaker and a protector among her troop.

Her favorite activities were relaxing in the hammock of her habitat's climbing structure and sitting by the waterfall on a warm summer day to catch a cool breeze.

Chimpanzees are an endangered species, and for over five decades, Sally helped countless guests connect with and learn about the importance of protecting them in the wild.

Sally far exceeded the typical 40-year lifespan for chimpanzees in zoological care, a testament to the dedication of our animal care team, and to her own sheer will and unmistakable personality that made her beloved by all.

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Sally who has passed. She will be dearly missed by her troop, our guests and the team who had the privilege of caring for her.

Sally's fellow chimpanzees reside at Myombe Reserve, carrying on her legacy. We invite you to visit them and continue celebrating the bond this troop shares.

A quick message from our Regional Representative, Michael Christopher:
As I continue to transition into the treasurer role of ACE, I am working to consolidate, prepare, and coordinate the Florida Region for a transition to a new regional rep. I want to give a special thank you to Kristen Imler, Tayton Laing, and Kalin Profitt for being Assistant Reps for the last few years. Their volunteer services focused mainly on the Epic Universe opening and filming events, so they will be departing from the regional rep team.
Additionally, while I continue to find and choose a replacement regional rep, I will be extending my rep duties until IAAPA week.
