“Can we stay off property at Universal?”

Absolutely not. 😂

Okay, maybe that sounds a little aggressive. But there’s a reason I push back on this with clients. Off-property hotels can look cheaper at first glance, but you have to compare the entire vacation, not just the nightly room rate.

When you stay at a Universal Orlando hotel, you may be getting things that change the math:

• Early Park Admission
• Easy transportation to the parks
• The ability to stay inside the Universal bubble
• Resort amenities and theming
• More time in the parks because you aren’t dealing with outside transportation

Does that mean everyone should stay on property? Nope.

There are absolutely situations where staying off property makes sense. My job isn’t to automatically put you in a Universal hotel. It’s to look at your dates, budget, group, tickets, transportation and priorities and figure out what actually gives you the best value.

Because the cheapest hotel isn’t always the cheapest vacation.

And yes, sometimes the correct professional response really is:

“Absolutely not.” 😂

What’s fascinating is that Disney and Universal shouldn’t have as many repeat visitors as they do. Most destinations get crossed off a bucket list once, But these parks keep pulling people back! Part of it is new attractions and part of it is nostalgia, But I think the biggest reason is that no two trips are ever exactly the same. You stay at a different resort, Try different restaurants, Visit during a festival, Experience a new land. That’s why planning matters so much. The people who enjoy these vacations the most aren’t trying to do everything. They’re creating a different experience every time they visit.

One thing first-time Universal visitors don’t always expect is just how intense some of the attractions are. Disney is usually about storytelling first. Universal tends to start with “How can we make this absolutely insane?” and work backward from there. 😂 That’s why I always recommend people research attractions before they go. Because there is a big difference between enjoying VelociCoaster and accidentally finding yourself on VelociCoaster. Universal has some of the best thrill rides anywhere, but knowing what you’re walking into can make a huge difference in how much you enjoy the trip.
