ROAD CLOSURE ALERT – June 20, 2026

To accommodate parking for the funeral service of Deputy Chief Derrick, the following streets will be closed on Saturday, June 20, 2026:

- East Street
- West Street
- Darwin Street

Closures will begin at 8:00 AM and are expected to remain in place until approximately 12:30 PM.

Residents on these streets will continue to have access to their properties.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we honor Deputy Chief Derrick.

Please see the funeral procession route and map below for the service honoring Deputy Chief Dan Derrick. The procession is tentatively expected to begin at 12:20 p.m. on June 20.

The community is welcome and encouraged to respectfully line the route to show their support, gratitude, and appreciation for his 54 years of dedicated service.

Please be advised there will be low-flying helicopters along the procession route as part of the ceremonial honors.

Walworth County is holding residential Clean Sweep events for electronics, tires and hazardous materials recycling on June 26 & 27 at its Public Works building at W4097 County Rd NN in Elkhorn.

From 3:30-5:30 on June 26 is only for recycling household hazardous waste. No electronics are being recycled on the 26th. Examples of household hazardous waste include adhesives, cleaning chemicals, motor oil, paint remover, fertilizers and more.

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 27th electronics, appliances and tires are being recycled for a fee.
All televisions: $10 each
Monitors: $5 each
Mini fridges/small AC units/Dehumidifiers: $5 each
Refrigerators/Freezers: $10 each; all other appliances free
Tires: 20" rims or smaller: without rims are $5 each and tires on the rim are $10 each

Please join the Geneva Lake Museum for a very special opening ceremony of its new exhibit, "Honoring Our Local Military Heroes."

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. today with a half-hour long performance from the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra's Resolution Brass Quintet. A ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., followed by a viewing of the exhibit and refreshments in the Map Room.

The baked goods are provided courtesy of the American Legion Auxiliary, and donations to the Legion are welcome.

Free parking is available at East View School just north of the Museum.

TDS and its contractors will be in Lake Geneva through the end of 2026 installing a fiber optic network.

Work is close to being done in the Vistas subdivision and at locations in the southwest portion of the city and will soon transition to the Stone Ridge subdivision and points nearby.

Contractors will leave information at homes in areas where construction is slated to take place. The city also will post installation and construction updates to its page and website for the duration of the project.

The women's public restroom at the west end of Library Park is closed today - Thursday, June 11 - for painting. It will reopen tomorrow - Friday, June 12.

The men's restroom is open.

Restrooms in Flat Iron Park are open year-round, and all others are open seasonally (generally May to October).

City parks are open year-round, with the exception of Cobb Park and the Riviera Beach.

MEETING CANCELLED - JUNE 10

Due to the threat of inclement weather tonight's public information meeting regarding the 2027 and 2028 construction on State Hwy 50 is cancelled.

The meeting will be rescheduled, and the date will be announced soon. Please check the city's page and website - for more information.

The City maintains a website for the Hwy 50 project, which is linked below and is your source for the latest information on the upcoming construction.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is going to improve approximately 2.5 miles of Wisconsin Hwy 50, also known as Main Street, from Forest Street to Grand Geneva Way.

Please be advised work is continuing today - June 10 - on Interchange North near Grant Street and heading east until just past Community State Bank.

According to Walworth County Payne & Dolan, the contractor on the project, is spreading binder material in advance of paving.

Please exercise caution when traveling through the area.
