BACK WHEN SPECIAL SHAPE BALLOONS WERE HUGE!
🧀🎈As a Wisconsin-based business, we always have a soft spot for a hometown legend—especially when it's the size of a building! 🧀🎈
🏍️ Harley-Davidson was born right here in Wisconsin, so looking back at the iconic 1986 Harley special shape balloon hits a little closer to home. Commissioned by billionaire Malcolm Forbes as part of a massive global fleet, this flying motorcycle was an absolute masterpiece.
But while we all love seeing massive special shapes in the sky, they are a completely different beast to handle on the ground. For pilots and ground crews, they are the ultimate test of skill:
🔥 Tricky inflations: Getting all those custom appendages (like the wheels and handlebars) pressurized perfectly takes serious coordination.
🛑 Wild landings: Standard top-vents often don't work with the unique artwork, meaning these giants need more space and longer drags to come to a stop.
💪 A grueling pack-up: Wrestling heavy custom fabric and internal baffles back into the bag is a massive workout for the ground crew.
