Early Las Vegas ran on loopholes.

Add "hotel" to your deed and you could serve food. Serve food and you could justify a liquor license. Have a liquor license and nobody looked too hard at the back room. And the back room had gambling.

Most people don't know Nevada banned gambling in 1910. Then Prohibition hit in 1918 — a full month before the rest of the country. Both illegal. Both still happening. Just quieter about it.

"Houses of ill repute" meant brothels.
The speakeasies were right next door.
And the gambling was in the back.

Las Vegas has always known how to operate in the space between the law and the line.

The famous cowboy is one of the most recognized signs in the world (after the welcome to Las Vegas sign.

7. Vegas Vickie
The mascot of Glitter Gulch (Fremont's early nickname) now lives inside the Circa... and in classic millennial style, has her own drink and bar.

8. Vintage Slot Machines Main Street
Original slot machines paid in candy and drinks, go see one and check out hundreds of other antiques.

9. That million dollar shot you took earlier in the list? Now head to El Cortez red room, find the red hallway of memories, and take another shot standing in front of the original million dollar photo with none other than Benny Binion himself.

10. Under the original mirror ceiling tucked into the original Apache (head for the security office). its part of the original casino, designed to reflect the activity on the tables below.

11. Top of Binion's steakhouse overlooking Fremont east night time shot ...✨ we can just about assure you that you'll have captures a shot no one else has.

12. Now head to the parking garage and walk toward the back for a larger than life shot in front of the rolling dice.

13. With one of the street performers! There is some truly incredible talent out here, if you see one and wonder what that talent is, drop a bill in their bucket
