It's About More Than the Boats
If you've never visited Sweetwater, put it on your list. The food was excellent, the refreshments were welcome, and after a damp morning on the river, sitting around a warm table with Chapter friends was hard to beat.
The day was also a good reminder of what our Chapter outings are really about. Certainly, it's about the boats. We love hearing those engines come to life, clearing the no-wake zone, pushing the throttles forward, and watching a wake form behind the transom.
But our boats are also what bring us together.
They give us a reason to get out on the water, visit interesting places, meet new people, renew old friendships, tell a few stories, and sit around a table discussing where our Chapter is headed next. Mother Nature tried twice to interfere with this outing. She won the first round with a nor'easter. But she didn't win the second.
Four boats. Thirty-two miles. One stubborn drizzle. An unexpected Viking dock crew. Good friends. A warm lunch. And one couple returning to where their story began nearly 50 years ago.
Not a bad way to close out the 2026 boating season.
