Making our way through Greece one island at a time. There are over 6,000 islands in Greece, but only 227 of them are inhabited. Going on a smaller ship, you do get to experience some of the smaller islands that larger ships do not get to, and we are getting to see two in a day.
Today, for example, is Iraklia, which has about 60 people who live here. It has been a very slow, laid-back morning and afternoon. Since it is Easter Sunday here in Greece, the ship roasted lamb on the spit and prepared a traditional Easter dinner.
We are now headed to Naxos, known for its stunning beaches and authentic villages.
Yesterday was Delos and Mykonos. Delos is a tiny island and the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, and no one lives on this island. We spent most of yesterday and the evening in Mykonos, and I have never seen such clean white buildings and whitewashed streets. I truly enjoyed strolling through the streets, exploring the shops, and taking in the views.
Travel isn’t just about checking destinations off a list, it is about creating memories that stay with you long after you return home.
