Peru has a way of exceeding every expectation — and most families only scratch the surface. 🌿 Here's how I build a Peru trip worth talking about:

🍋 Lima — Peru's coastal capital is also the culinary capital of South America, and the perfect place to ease into the country. Spend an afternoon eating through the trendy Barranco neighborhood, or experiencing a private cooking class in the home of a local chef.

🏔️ The Sacred Valley — Where I recommend spending the most time. Choose between ATV rides around the ruins of Moray, kayaking at Huaypo lagoon, hiking with llamas, horseback riding through the Andes, and hands-on quipu-making workshops.

🏛️ Cusco — The natural gateway to Machu Picchu itself. Time your visit for March, April, or November for fewer crowds, and save the Hiram Bingham train for the return trip, where you can enjoy cocktails, dinner, and the Andes rolling past the windows.

🌊 Further Afield — For families with more time, Peru opens up considerably. The Amazon, Lake Titicaca via the Belmond Andean Explorer, Arequipa, and Colca Canyon are all within reach with my help.
