Wait, did that cyclist just stop and then run the red stoplight in Los Alamos?

Yes, since July 1, 2025, cyclists are allowed to treat stoplights as stop signs. Once it is clear there is no other traffic, cyclists can continue through the intersection.

But why? Safety for everyone. Idaho was the first state to pass this law and they saw cyclist injuries decrease by more than 14%! New Mexico is the 13th state to pass a version of the “Idaho stop.”

Access to Camp May looks a little different this year, but we promise it's going to be worth it! ❄️💦

Three of four phases: done. Ahead of schedule.
If you've been following this since the dig started on Camp May Road last year — the waterline is in. The 500,000-gallon tank is nearly complete. Booster stations are next, wrapping November 2026.
Water to the mountain this fall. The snow season you've been waiting for starts after that.
