𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁
This month, we have achieved not one, but two significant milestones in the areas of sustainability and social impact. For the fifth year running, we have been Green Globe™certified, earning us Green Globe Gold status. This year, Marieke Dijkman, in her role as Sustainability Manager, successfully oversaw the Green Globe Certification process.

And there’s more good news: the Beurs van Berlage is now also a Certified B Corporation™!

Both certifications complement each other perfectly. Green Globe focuses primarily on how sustainably we run our venue and events, while B Corp takes a broader view of our impact as a company – on people, society and the environment.

Willemijn de Vet, Marketing Director at the Beurs van Berlage: “At the Beurs, we naturally want to treat our listed building with care and organise increasingly sustainable events. But we consider it just as important how we treat people, which organisations we collaborate with, and what role we play as an organisation in the city and society. This is why these certifications are a wonderful recognition of something our entire team has been working on together for years.”

The certifications are not the end goal, but an important milestone. We will continue working towards net zero emissions by 2050, while continuing to play an active social role in the city of Amsterdam.

Toward an Ambitious Energy Transition -

• a 100% electric hotel,
• the elimination of natural gas,
• the deployment of a heat pump system,
• the simultaneous production of heating and cooling through energy recovery.

“Every kilowatt saved is an opportunity to reduce our impact. Our mission is to continuously monitor, measure, and optimize the building’s energy performance to ensure the hotel operates sustainably, without compromising our guests’ comfort.” — Mickael Cataloni, Technical Director

Toward More Sustainable F&B -

• Seasonal produce,
• French producers,
• Plants and flowers grown in our own edible garden,
• Concrete actions to combat food waste through a partnership with HopHopFood.

“Responsible cooking isn’t just about choosing high-quality ingredients. It’s about respecting the seasons, making the most of every ingredient, and minimizing waste to offer an experience that’s as delicious as it is sustainable.” — Cedric Galais, F&B Director and Executive Chef

This certification is a recognition of our efforts, but above all, it’s motivation to go even further.

Thank you to all our teams, partners, and guests who help bring these commitments to life every day. 💚
