Our second official Milk + Honey team retreat looked a little different this year … closer to home (because one of us is about to pop 👶🏼), but just as impactful.

We spent a few days at in Oceanside, carving out time to pause, reflect, and imagine what’s next. There were brainstorms over coffee, belly laughs around the firepit, long walks, pool time, and meals that lingered longer than planned.

As this business grows, so does the need for clarity, collaboration, and care. I’m no longer building this alone, and that’s the best part. This team brings so much heart and thoughtfulness to what we do behind the scenes.

This retreat reminded me: when you make space to connect on a human level, the strategy always flows more naturally.

We didn’t go far, but it gave us exactly what we needed.

A little road trip to for one last summer hurrah before the school year begins.

We’ve been coming here for years, and it always delivers… sunny beach days, lobster dinners in town, and sunsets that make you stop mid-sentence just to take them in.

We’ve started to make a habit of inviting friends to join in on these little trips, and something about that mix of familiarity and fun makes it feel even better. Cheers to play dates that turn into play vacations!

It wasn’t a big trip. But it was full of the kind of moments that stay with you.

Growing up, we didn’t vacation—we camped.

We road-tripped. We stayed where we could, ate what we packed, and called it good.

And honestly? I’m grateful for those memories. But as an adult, I’ve given myself permission to redefine what travel—and what a rich life—looks like for me.

It’s not about luxury for luxury’s sake.
It’s about ease. Beauty. Space to be present.
I could prioritize other things.

I could drive the flashier car, chase the square footage, collect more stuff. (I do live in Orange County, after all…)

But this? This is what brings me joy.

Intentional travel. Thoughtful design. The ability to savor what I’ve worked so hard to build.

That’s my version of abundance.
That’s what I want to pass on.

To the guy who’s always the first one in the pool, the last one to leave the beach, and the one our kids think is basically a superhero in swim trunks…

You are the real MVP.

You build the sandcastles. You spot the monkeys. You boogie board for hours like it’s your actual job. All while I’m a few feet away, living my best life under a sunshade with a book in hand.

(and over here pretending I didn’t hear the 6th “Mom, watch this!” in a row.)

I just want you to know—I see you.

You don’t just show up—you go all in. Every wave, every cannonball, every “sure, let’s do it again.” You make our kids feel seen, safe, and so wildly loved.

Watching you be the fun one, the present one, the (mostly) patient one—it’s one of my favorite things about this season.
