The world is full of amazing places.. You should go, and I should plan it.

I say this with love and a little bit of envy — empty nesters won the travel calendar.

No school schedule. No spring break crowds. No paying peak season prices because that’s the only window you have. September in Europe. November on safari. A three-week trip because you actually can.

This is your best travel era. It would be a shame not to use it. 😊

This weekend I was in Temecula for my church’s first ever marriage retreat.

I volunteered to organize it … because that’s what I do. I thought through the arc of the weekend. Where we’d stay, how meals would flow, what the free time could look like.

But I showed up expectant that it would mean something to my own marriage in a way that had nothing to do with the details.

And it did.

Marriage is all the things. If you’re married, you don’t need me to explain further.

What a gift to show up somewhere with your partner and both commit to lean in, learn, and do the work required to move toward the kind of marriage you actually want.

We were led by two people whose knowledge, vulnerability, and love for each other made the whole weekend possible. and Kyle - grateful doesn’t cover it.

But I am. So grateful.

One of the most common questions I get from clients considering a safari honeymoon is whether a few days is enough before it starts feeling repetitive.

It’s a fair question. The day-to-day itinerary looks the same on paper — game drive, breakfast, game drive, dinner. But that’s not what it feels like on the ground.

Safari is the only travel experience I know that is completely unscripted. Nature decides what happens. And no two drives are alike.

I went on my first trip thinking I’d check it off my list. Now my goal is to get back at least once a year.

If Africa has been on your radar, I’m happy to talk through what a trip actually looks like.

You can spend 40 hours researching a trip or 40 minutes talking to the right person.

The trip that comes from the conversation is always better.

While the internet gives you options, a good advisor gives you answers: what hotel is right for you specifically, what time of year actually fits your life, what to cut and what’s worth every penny.

That’s what 40 minutes gets you. 😉

A lot of what I do never shows up in the final itinerary.

It’s the conversation where I talk a client out of five countries and into two. The pivot from Egypt to Puglia that I’m quietly thrilled about. The festive Italy switch that happened because someone finally admitted they don’t actually need a beach ... they need magic.

The logistics are the easy part. The direction is the work.

No notes. No regrets.

Present and accounted for. That’s all I got before noon. Tell me I’m not alone.

Everyone expects the Big Five. Nobody expects the silence. That’s the part that changes you.

Safari footage never quite captures it. But this is as close as I can get.

If it’s been on your list, let’s talk. Link in bio.

We’ve grown up…
but clearly not that much.
