EPIC Mahi Fishing + Hunter’s FIRST Swordfish! 🎣🔥

What a day offshore in the Florida Keys!
Neighbor Grant, Claude, and Hunter joined me for an absolutely epic mahi bite, and then we finished the day with something Hunter won’t forget — his first swordfish.
I also break down how I used SATFISH to choose the area we fished that day, and in this week’s Captain’s Gear Review, I take a look at four new high-speed trolling lures and weights from Bluewing Fishing that I’ll be putting to work during wahoo season.

If you missed our latest Bimini adventure, this one definitely took a turn.
We started the day deep dropping and catching yelloweye snapper, blackfin tuna, amberjack and grouper…then somehow ended up bar hopping around Bimini, Tamara trying a conch pistol, and arm wrestling at the Hideaway Bar.
Definitely one of the more entertaining trips we’ve had over there.

This one came out of the Marathon Sport Fishing vault — and somehow it’s now one of the best-performing videos I’ve put out in the last month.

My neighbor Nate hooks a wahoo while we’re pulling planers, and from there it turns into complete chaos around the boat.

We also go through the planer setup, clean the wahoo, and make one of my favorite recipes — sesame-seared wahoo with pineapple bourbon chutney.

I’ve added a new Then & Now section showing what I do differently today, including my current wahoo setup and how I’m using SATFISH to help narrow down where I want to fish.

Kenneth got the first swordfish on his boat, we released it, and then we got into some great mahi action.

One lure was working especially well to pull the school right up to the boat, and we captured some awesome underwater footage of the fish swimming around us.

I also go over how we used SATFISH to help decide which direction to run that morning.

Deep dropping in wind and current can get frustrating fast — especially when your line starts scoping behind the boat and you’re forced to keep backing down.

In this video, Blane and I put the BLUEWING drift sock to a real-world test to see if it can help keep our deep-drop lines more vertical without constantly using the motors.

We also compare **flashing vs. steady deep-drop lights** while catching tilefish and black belly rosefish.

Then a frigate bird starts circling the boat… so we get the deep-drop gear up, troll through him and find a few mahi!

We’re opening the Marathon Sport Fishing vault for our very first Throwback Thursday!

This 344-pound daytime swordfish took us on an incredible 8-hour, 21-mile battle in the Florida Keys — and when it was finally over, we needed a crane to finish the job.

A lot of you weren’t following the channel when this happened, so it was time to bring this one back.

he lobster were not in their normal spots this year, so we had to adjust our strategy.

In this video, I bring you along on several Florida Keys dives and explain how lobster move between the bay and Atlantic sides, why they often congregate near bridges, and how to time your dive around slack tide.

I also show the equipment I use and demonstrate my techniques for locating, tickling, measuring and netting lobster underwater.

In this week’s video, I cover four days of fishing with Dino, Whitney, and Miss Tamara while breaking down the baits, lures, tackle, and strategies we’ve been using to keep catching mahi in extremely weedy conditions.

We also catch skipjack, test some weed-friendly lure styles, cover the Bluewing gaff during the Captain’s Gear Review, and pass within about two miles of a US Navy aircraft carrier while fishing the sword grounds.

After running nearly 200 miles in two days, I almost stayed home—but the flat-calm ocean changed my mind. I left at 10 a.m. and caught tuna, mahi, tilefish, blackbelly rosefish and even a shark!
