Deep dropping in wind and current can get frustrating fast — especially when your line starts scoping behind the boat and you’re forced to keep backing down.

In this video, Blane and I put the BLUEWING drift sock to a real-world test to see if it can help keep our deep-drop lines more vertical without constantly using the motors.

We also compare **flashing vs. steady deep-drop lights** while catching tilefish and black belly rosefish.

Then a frigate bird starts circling the boat… so we get the deep-drop gear up, troll through him and find a few mahi!

We’re opening the Marathon Sport Fishing vault for our very first Throwback Thursday!

This 344-pound daytime swordfish took us on an incredible 8-hour, 21-mile battle in the Florida Keys — and when it was finally over, we needed a crane to finish the job.

A lot of you weren’t following the channel when this happened, so it was time to bring this one back.

In this video, I bring you along on several Florida Keys dives and explain how lobster move between the bay and Atlantic sides, why they often congregate near bridges, and how to time your dive around slack tide.

I also show the equipment I use and demonstrate my techniques for locating, tickling, measuring and netting lobster underwater.

In this week’s video, I cover four days of fishing with Dino, Whitney, and Miss Tamara while breaking down the baits, lures, tackle, and strategies we’ve been using to keep catching mahi in extremely weedy conditions.

We also catch skipjack, test some weed-friendly lure styles, cover the Bluewing gaff during the Captain’s Gear Review, and pass within about two miles of a US Navy aircraft carrier while fishing the sword grounds.

After running nearly 200 miles in two days, I almost stayed home—but the flat-calm ocean changed my mind. I left at 10 a.m. and caught tuna, mahi, tilefish, blackbelly rosefish and even a shark!
