Why I Prefer Boutique Hotels Over Big Resorts!

Everyone talks about the big-name resorts.

But some of my favorite travel memories happened in places most people have never heard of.

The little hotel tucked into a vineyard in Portugal.

The family-owned inn overlooking the ocean.

The boutique property where the staff knew our names by the second day.

Don't get me wrong, I love a great luxury resort. But boutique hotels often offer something many larger properties can't:

✨ More personalized service
✨ More authentic local experiences
✨ Fewer crowds
✨ A stronger connection to the destination

When I travel, I don't just want a place to sleep.

I want a place that becomes part of the story.

That's one reason I spend so much time researching unique hotels for my clients. Sometimes the best travel experiences aren't found on page one of Google.

There’s just something about airports, boarding passes, and watching planes take off that never gets old.

Maybe it’s because every flight represents possibility.
A new destination.

The more time I spend on the water, the more I realize how much I actually love it. 🌊

What’s funny is… I didn’t always feel that way. I used to avoid boats, open water, and honestly never really understood why people were so drawn to it.

But somewhere along the way, something changed.

Now there’s something about being out on the water that feels peaceful in a way I can’t fully explain. The quiet, the movement, the fresh air, the feeling of slowing down and just being present for a moment.

I think sometimes we grow into new versions of ourselves without even realizing it. The things we once avoided somehow become the places we feel most alive. 🤍

One of my favorite things about visiting Pike Place Market is simply wandering through the endless rows of fresh produce, local goods, and stunning flowers. There’s something special about seeing food grown by local farmers and experiencing the energy of a market that’s been a part of Seattle for generations.

From vibrant bouquets to farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, it’s a reminder of how beautiful simple things can be.
