✈️⚠️ Proposed new overflight fees of up to $775 per flight are raising serious concerns across The Bahamas’ aviation industry, with experts warning they could drive up ticket prices, hurt smaller airlines and make travel to the Family Islands more expensive. Tourism operators say the added costs could ultimately be passed on to passengers and discourage visitors from travelling to the country.

Family members on Tuesday said they have recovered the bodies of an elderly couple and their grandchildren who were aboard a small plane that vanished near the Bahamas.

They were identified by family members as 80-year-old Mario Lamar, his wife 79-year-old Lili Lamar and their grandchildren, 28-year-old Sofia Sosa and 22-year-old Christian Sosa. Mario Lamar was piloting the plane, family said.
