A fun one last night under the "Sturgeon Moon" with Erick, James, and Ian! 10 minutes in, Ian boated a nice Flatty, and then a fairly steady bite the rest of the night with a
mixture of Flats and Chans. The post spawn bite is picking up for sure.

After a couple of reschedules due to high water, we finally got out with Van and his grandsons Eric, and Jack.
A lot of short bites for us and a big bright moon above us, but we managed to boat a few nice ones.

Well, this is my 8th year doing guide trips, but as of today I made it an entire year as a full time fisherman! Definitely some ups and downs with Mother Nature and maybe not exactly the wisest choice financially speaking, but everything else has been awesome. I love meeting new people and introducing them to the River Life and catching whiskered fish!

I can't guarantee I'll be here doing this 5 years from now, but just enjoying each day as another new challenge.

A fun night on Pool 2 with Dante, Krystal, and Kai. A birthday trip for Dante and he started it off with a big ol Chan!
They caught a few more throughout the night, but still a bit on the slower side due to the high water.
Tough to beat the weather though, it was just about perfect.

We ventured out on the swollen Mississippi River last night with Glenn and his boys Nick and Trevor. The dock was under water, there was a lot of floating debris to avoid and also extended train crossing delays, but all that aside, we found some really nice fish and it was beautiful night to be out there!

The weather and high water gave me a little free time to build a new battery box yesterday. Yep, it's a little overkill at 100AH, but like Tim Taylor always said, "More Power!".

Last year I made a comment that I couldn't ever remember a summer with so much rain and flooding. Historically, that has been reserved for the March-June window each season. And now consecutive years of mid to late summer flooding. ☹️

I wish I had better news, but unfortunately I can't sugar coat this one. The MN River has been above action stage for 40 straight days now and about to go over Flood stage for the second time in those 40 days.

A slower one with the bobbers out there today for Jack and Karen and Matthew.
We still managed to find some nice ones though including a 29" 11lber!
Karen even got in the water for a nice cool off swim while we fished. 😄

Growing up in the late 80s, I worked (and lived) with Grant and Judy on Lake Vermilion for 3 summers. We spent many days a week out on the water catching fish. One of the first nights out I was abruptly introduced to "selective harvest" when he non-shalantely caught a 29" walleye, held it up to me and said, "hey that's a nice one" and quietly slipped it back into the water. No pics, no hoopla and honestly disappointed it wasn't a 5lb Smallie. 😃
Then one night we randomly started catching Muskies. What a story those Vermilion Muskies turned into...
