No giants last night but we did find some nice ones for Mike, Ali, Evan, and Danielle! Water temps are now low to mid 70s and The bite seems to getting better each day. We could use some rain though.

Thanks again for the trip!

The Whisker Seeker Tackle FMJ-2 rods handled dozens of big Sturgeon up to 70" over the past couple of weeks! If you are considering using these rods, I would recommend MH for Sturgeon up to 55" and H for anything bigger, especially in stronger current such as the Rainy River. There is some crossover and both will work in each case, but that 55" kind of seems like the cutoff sweet spot for me.
These big fish will absolutely put all your gear to a test, and in fact I'm never surprised to see some failures, but all the WS rods passed that test.
Unfortunately, I can't say that for the brand I used last year...

Rainy River Recap (PART 4):

That's a wrap for the 2026 Spring Sturgeon Season! The overall bite was a bit slower than average this year due to the unseasonably cold temps. The water temp started at mid 40s when I arrived and slowly declined and bottomed out at 37 and held there for several days (normally 50-55) . We had a couple of cold nights in the low 20s as well. Despite all that, we found some big fish for the majority of the trips. Some great memories were made and I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for making this possible! For the few trips we struggled, I'll try my best to make it up to you in the future.
Total fish was 53, with 35 over 50, 7 over 60, and 1 over 70! We also caught 2 tagged Fish.
All of my gear took a lot of abuse but held up great this year. No issues!
I'm already looking forward to 2027 and hope you can join me!

Now it's time to go find some Catfish.
