It looks like the MN River should crest today at Jordan at 19.5', so a little higher than forecasted.
In addition to that, the rising water and cool weather also brought the water temp down 10 degrees and it's back into the lower 50s. Last night there was a lot of floating debris and trees heading downstream.
We are going to need a few warmer sunny days to get back on track with the Catfish bite.

If anyone wondered what a simple 3" rain event does to our river valley, here ya go. Up 8ft in 2 days.

I think it should help with the prespawn Flathead fishing though! As long as it stops raining for a while...

The Whisker Seeker Tackle Bait Shack is a pretty sweet (but spendy) unit! I love the solar charger though. I ran this thing for 2 weeks straight.

Still getting several messages about the Power Queen batteries. I used them the entire time I was up on the Rainy. Only twice in 2 weeks I dropped the anchor and that was later at night to assure I had some juice left for my spotlight back to the ramp. Other than that roughly 10-12 hours per day spotlocked in heavy current. Monitoring the level via Bluetooth is a great feature and I used it a lot more than I thought I would.
At less than $200 each, it's a pretty good deal I think.
Now the only regret I have is getting a 5x Noco Charger and not the 10x. A fully depleted battery takes 15-20 hours to recharge with the 5x so I was plugging it in any chance I could.

I just wanted to thank each and every one of you who spent the past 2 weeks in the boat with me. We had some highs and some lows but overall just a fantastic Spring Sturgeon season with incredible weather and some giant fish too!
I appreciate all your guide trip business, I couldn't do it without your support and I plan to do it all again next May 1-15. Hopefully you can join me.
Now it's time for some Catfish!

This record heat wave has really kick started the Sturgeon spawn and also killed the great bite we had going. Still finding a few but at a much lower frequency and smaller size.

Also the MNDNR has been netting lots of fish for their Sturgeon rearing program. Fat, plump, and ready to squeeze.

No guide trips today so I went out with a friend instead. We found a large pod of 60+" fish and caught them for hours. I'd like to tell ya how many we caught, but it's more than I can remember and you probably wouldn't believe me anyways.

Truly an unbelievable bite and one of those days I'll probably never forget.

Its been an awesome few days with some highs and lows. Mostly highs though! Based on the current conditions, I feel like the best is still yet to come! I still have several morning and evening trips before the season ends 5/15. Check out my website for more info.
