Wow! Thanks Alaska.org! We love our little remote yurt camp on the shore of Grant Lake. It’s so much fun sharing this special place with folks looking for a unique and accessible backcountry Alaska experience.

What if your Alaska accommodations came with a kayak, a campfire, and a trail leading into the backcountry?

With Moose Pass Adventures, getting to your yurt is part of the experience. Paddle across glacier-fed Trail Lake, hike a section of the historic Iditarod Trail, then make your way to remote Grant Lake, where a handcrafted yurt becomes home for the night.

Once you’re there, spend the evening kayaking, settle in for a BBQ dinner and s’mores around the fire, then wake up to birdsong and breakfast in the Alaska wilderness.

Choose a 2- or 3-day private adventure, with your guide, meals, kayaking gear, and a warm place to sleep all taken care of.

I've always loved the sounds loons make, bringing thoughts of a remote lakeside cabin somewhere north with a fireplace going, mist drifting among the pines...
These are either Common Loons or Pacific Loons and I'm so glad they've returned here from their winter travels. Loons usually head south in late October and can reach as far as the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. Sounds like a solid plan to me!

It was a long, cold winter in Alaska. People who who've lived here 60-70 years said they'd never seen anything like it. Spring is finally here and we're excited the ice finally melted on Trail Lake and we've had some great guests already out enjoying it! Our camp on Grant is whole different story - it got rocked, ice still lines a few creeks, but I can see, by the buds on the trees that it will be a whole different scene as each day passes! Lots of work to be done. Trees across the trails, trees down at camp, dead branches and mud everywhere. It's hard work but rewarding in so many ways. We'll post the 'Loons are Back' video shortly! Oh - and we're excited to introduce our new crew this year too! They're trickling in and going through training now!

We've been in hibernation mode for this cold, strange winter, but it was so nice to get together with everyone for the Moose Pass Winter Rendezvous! Afterward, on a late night journey across the lake, the Aurora showed up for a heck of a show as well! We ❤️ Moose Pass!

It's been a slow start to winter this year, is it here yet?! Not much snow at this point, but we're stoked to have some firewood cut up at camp and have opened up some availability if you're looking for a little get away. If you haven't stayed with us before, you'll find info about our yurt 'The Nellie' on Grant Lake in the booking link below. Most of what we do up at camp is in the summer, but we love the idea of sharing this spot with peeps that just want to get out and enjoy Alaska in the winter time as well. Maybe grab a book, cozy up around the wood stove, play some cards and enjoy!
