Five nights changes the recommendation.
I love Costa Rica, but I do not think the answer to a shorter trip is to
take a longer itinerary and start deleting sleep.
If a family only has five nights, I want to know which version of Costa
Rica matters most to them. Wildlife and volcanoes? Adventure and hot
springs? Beach and resort time?
Then I build around that instead of collecting regions.

“Usually” included.
“Should” have a shuttle.
“Probably” open during your stay.
Those words are fine when the detail doesn't matter very much.
They're a problem when you've built the trip around them.
If the vacation depends on something being true, verify it before you mentally check the box.

I've seen plenty of perfectly good hotels where I wouldn't put a particular family in a particular room.
That's the distinction.
The hotel can be family-friendly.
The room can technically accommodate everyone.
And the setup can still be annoying as hell for five nights.
Look at how your family will actually use the space.

The stay has a whole bunch of them.
Parking, breakfast, mandatory fees and transportation can completely change which hotel is actually the better value.
This is also why I don't automatically recommend the cheaper option or the more expensive option.
I want to know what you're actually getting for the difference.
Save this for the next time two hotel prices are making the decision look simpler than it is.
