Remember staying up way too late to watch a scary movie as a kid? Brian Blair spent plenty of those nights, building Universal Monsters model kits along the way. Today, that love of horror lives on in the masks and props at Pumpkin Pulp, the horror studio he founded in Muncie in 2006.

Brian earned a Fine Arts degree at Ball State, and today every Pumpkin Pulp piece is handcrafted right here in Muncie, including clowns, witches, Krampus, monsters, and Forevermore Dolls that manage to be cute and creepy at the same time. Collectors around the world buy his work, and Doug Bradley, the actor best known as Pinhead in the Hellraiser films, owns one of his props.

This month, you can see his creations come to life at Scarevania haunted house, the haunted house Brian runs in Muncie. Wind through the maze, catch live acts on the Carnivale Cabaret stage while you wait in line, and stop by the Pumpkin Pulp store, open only during haunt hours, to take a piece of the terror home with you.

Scarevania is open Fridays and Saturdays, 8 to 11 p.m., through October 31. Tickets are $10 at the door. Fair warning: be ready to get spooked!

6 days until Ball State celebrates 100 years of Homecoming!

It all started in 1926 with a bonfire, a pep rally, and a dance. A century later, it’s a full week of tradition from October 19-24.

The Homecoming Parade has rolled through Muncie since 1939, the Bed Race has sent teams flying down Riverside Avenue since 1980, and Air Jam has kept students lip-syncing since 1987. The festivities will wrap up this year on Saturday, October 24, when the Cardinals take on Sacramento State at Scheumann Stadium.

Congratulations to Melissa Hauger of Indianapolis, our newest Garfield Trail winner!

She and her son spent part of their summer tracking down Garfield statues around Delaware County. His favorite was the statue at Muncie ARF, especially because the visit came with real cats to play with.

Fall is the perfect time for Ball State and Ivy Tech students to get off campus and explore Delaware County, and our new fall bucket list is full of ideas to get you started.

There are $8 tickets to the Bob Ross Experience Minnetrista Museum & Gardens with a student ID, $18 student seats at Muncie Civic Theatre, a good scare at Scarevania haunted house, and a 10-acre corn maze at Landess Farm, just to name a few.

Getting around nearby is easy, too. Students ride MITS buses free with their student ID.

Garf here. Went to Minnetrista Museum & Gardens' Orchard Shop today.

The apples were delicious, and I didn't have to do any picking! Also found the Bob Ross merch inside and struck a pose next to a fellow Muncie icon with great hair.

10/10 trip!
