The colorful sandstone cliffs of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore tower 50 to 200 feet above Lake Superior. These sandstone cliffs stretch for about 15 miles along Lake Superior from Sand Point on the west to just after Spray Falls on the east. The most colorful portion of the cliffs begin east of Miners Beach.

We do our best to keep passengers with already purchased tickets informed via email and text message if we foresee cruise cancellations, however weather and lake conditions can change quickly and forewarning is not always possible. Check the Pictured Rocks Cruises home page for a current cruise status. Cruises are typically only canceled for severe weather that might result in danger to the passengers. Such weather may include strong winds and high waves, fog, or severe thunderstorms.

Pictured Rocks Cruises are the best way to see the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. For over 50 years, our summer cruises have been guiding visitors along the spectacular shoreline.

Among the natural landmarks, you will also see the historic East Channel Lighthouse. Since 1867, the East Channel Lighthouse has illuminated the path for incoming ships into Munising Bay. Situated along the southeast coast of Grand Island, the lighthouse was restored during the early 2000s. It is privately owned so you can only view it from the water. All Pictured Rocks Cruises’ tours sail by the beacon, giving passengers plenty of time to photograph the beautiful structure.

Grand Portal is one of the most impressive features of the Pictured Rocks. It was once an archway so vast that boats could sail through it. Unfortunately, the formation crumbled in 1906. Towering at 300-feet, it’s still a breathtaking site to enjoy in person.
