✨ Wow Wednesday! Northern Michigan – 2022 ✨

This morning I was inspired by a post from one of Northern Michigan’s native sons, Kid Rock, who has ties to the beautiful Charlevoix area, and it brought back memories of our trip to Northern Michigan in 2022!

We started in Traverse City and made our way north through Petoskey and Charlevoix, eventually ending up at beautiful Mackinac Island.

While walking around Petoskey, we struck up a conversation with an older gentleman who was strolling through town with his wife. We learned that he owned several hotels in the area as well as The Weathervane, the restaurant where we had just enjoyed lunch! One of those fun, unexpected travel moments you remember long after the trip is over.

From there, we traveled through gorgeous Charlevoix and continued north to what became the highlight of our trip—Mackinac Island. ❤️

Mackinac is truly like stepping back in time. Cars aren't allowed, so you get around by horse-drawn carriage, bicycle, or your own two feet**. We stayed at the beautiful Island House Hotel, right across from the marina. Its big front porch was the perfect place to sit, relax and watch island life go by.

Northern Michigan completely surprised me with its beautiful lake views, charming towns and laid-back atmosphere. It was one of those vacations that had a little bit of everything—and one I'd happily do all over again.

Toledo, Spain — where history, faith and cultures come together

One of the most fascinating stops on my trip through Spain was Toledo, a beautiful hilltop city overlooking the Tagus River and a place where you truly feel surrounded by history.

Known as the “City of Three Cultures,” Toledo was shaped over centuries by **Christians, Muslims and Jews**, and you can still see those influences today in its architecture, winding streets, synagogues, mosques and churches.

At the heart of the city is the magnificent Toledo Cathedral, considered one of the great Gothic cathedrals of Europe. Construction began in the 13th century, and stepping inside is almost overwhelming—the soaring ceilings, intricate chapels, stained glass, artwork and incredible detail seem to tell centuries of stories.

Toledo was once an important political and cultural center of Spain, and its remarkable preservation and blend of cultural influences helped earn the Historic City of Toledo designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.

This is what I love about traveling through Europe. You don't just see beautiful places—you walk through layers of history and begin to understand how different cultures helped shape the places we see today.

Toledo was definitely one of those places for me. ❤️

Alaska whispers… and Alaska ROARS. 🏔️🐋🌊**

From the quiet of towering glaciers and misty mountain landscapes to the roar of rushing waterfalls, crashing waves and incredible wildlife, Alaska is one of those places that simply takes your breath away.
