This early snowfall signal favors an active winter across a large portion of the South and East! The strongest above-average snowfall signal stretches from parts of Texas and Oklahoma through Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, the Appalachians and into portions of the Mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, below-average snowfall is being indicated across parts of the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.

There is still plenty of time for this pattern to change, but the Southern snow signal is certainly interesting this far out! 👀❄️

Toccoa Falls is one of the biggest sights on the route, dropping 186 feet over a massive rock face after only a very short walk. Mud Creek Falls in Sky Valley is another impressive cascade, falling about 100 feet and requiring almost no walking. Bean Creek Falls can be viewed right from the roadside, while Cupid Falls in Young Harris is reached by a short, easy path. Helton Creek Falls has two beautiful cascades along a roughly .3-mile round-trip trail, and Minnehaha Falls is reached on a short .4-mile round trip, where water pours down a wide, stair-stepped wall of rock near Lake Rabun. The w**e stops are just as memorable. Yonah Mountain Vineyards covers about 200 acres at the base of Yonah Mountain, while Terra Incognita Vineyard offers a peaceful setting in the North Georgia mountains. Hightower Creek Vineyards sits near Hiawassee with vineyard and mountain views, and Tiger Mountain Vineyards brings locally made Georgia w**e to the tiny town of Tiger. It’s an easygoing mountain road trip packed with scenery and variety.

Brasstown Bald rises 4,784 feet above sea level, making it Georgia’s highest point and offering views into four states on clear days. Helen Oktoberfest fills the town’s Festhalle with German music, dancing, pretzels, and b**r. Anna Ruby Falls features two side-by-side waterfalls dropping 153 and 50 feet. Vogel State Park has wooded trails, mountain scenery, and historic buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay brings handmade crafts, festival food, and apple favorites over two October weekends. Amicalola Falls plunges 729 feet down a rocky mountainside. Burt’s Pumpkin Farm offers large pumpkin fields, hayrides, and classic fall scenery. Tallulah Gorge State Park has dramatic rim overlooks, an 80-foot suspension bridge, and canyon walls reaching nearly 1,000 feet deep.
