Pedicab Tips : Signs and Lights
From
- 6 Person Sign (in yellow) has been a big help. It stands out and answers one of the most constant questions I get all the time on a bike. Instead of me saying “Yes we can fit 4 people” 100x a night. It makes people not scared to walk up knowing it can hold 2 to 3 persons no problem.
-Bike Joke Sign (seat banner and yoda) When someone turns the corner and run into your empty pedicab you naturally say “ pedicab ride? “ but with this sign I give my bike a chance to silently speak for me. Many people take pictures with it and then it starts an organic conversation. I like that my bike is offering a ride through humor and I can be less aggressive
towards every person I see needing rides when I work.
-Personal / Business Info Signs (QR codes and photos) The best sign advice I can give is this one. DONT HAVE PAYMENT QR CODES ON YOUR BIKE. This is defiantly a personal choice and I’ll tell you why. I think if a customer is distracted to pay me before or during the ride it usually ends will lower $ I’m tipped. The only QR codes I have lead to my bike tour website and social medias. I offer more than a just a ride : I play music, twinkle lights, give out information about town , take song requests, sing , dance at intersections, I do gas station/liquor store detours, or pub crawls. The point is that you shouldn’t accept payments before your customer has an experience on your bike. This is not necessarily for festivals or ques, this is advice is mainly for your normal city customers.
Last but not least is a big plus for sure and that’s….the lights! (Waterproof Govee Outdoor LED Strip Lights if you want to Amazon what I use ) they can change any color, brighten up and dim down. They can change to music or they give relaxing feels for the ride back to home base. Helps also to stand out down the street or across town. I have an external battery with AC outlet to power them.
LMK if any of these pedicab tricks help :) please feel free to tag or comment any other fun tips. Would love to connect more with this wacky community :)
