I was looking through the latest Disney Cruise discounts, and one thing immediately caught my attention: Thanksgiving week. 👀

Our girls actually get the entire week of Thanksgiving off school, so whenever I see travel options pop up for that week, I notice. And this time there are discounted sailings available on multiple Disney ships, with options ranging from shorter Bahamian cruises to a full 7-night Caribbean sailing.

Several of them are Very Merrytime cruises too, so you could trade cooking, dishes, and Black Friday chaos for a Disney ship already decked out for Christmas. (Not going to lie, that sounds pretty appealing to me. 😂)

Sometimes the best Disney vacation isn’t the one you originally pictured. 👀

When this family came to me, they knew what mattered most: easy access to Magic Kingdom, a resort their young kids could enjoy, and a budget that left room for more than just a beautiful hotel room. Once we started looking at the whole vacation - not just the resort - the right choice became a lot clearer.

They’re officially booked for a spring stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort with Park Hopper tickets, giving them the flexibility to revisit favorite rides, change plans when days don’t go exactly as expected with the kids, or head back to the resort for a pool break without feeling locked into one park for the entire day.

And booking is just the beginning. Between now and their trip we’ll work through dining reservations, decide whether a dining plan makes sense for the way they want to eat, build their park priorities, tackle Lightning Lanes, and keep shaping the trip around their family.

🔥 HOT TAKE: Mine-Cart Madness might be the most overhated ride at Epic Universe. And I said what I said. 😎

This was hands down one of my favorites. I laughed through the ENTIRE ride. The track-jumping illusion, the twists and turns, the ridiculous golden banana…it’s chaotic, silly, and just plain FUN.

Yes, it’s bumpy. It’s supposed to be - you’re in a runaway mine cart! And between that and some of the longest waits in Epic Universe, I know plenty of people who say it isn’t worth it. Respectfully…not everyone can have taste as good as mine. 🤷‍♀️😂

The one time I wouldn’t recommend it? If the rougher ride could aggravate a physical or medical condition. No attraction is worth making yourself miserable. But if the WAIT is what’s making you want to skip it? That’s a different story. There are a few ways I’d approach Mine-Cart Madness to give my clients a better shot at avoiding the worst of those waits—and knowing when and how to tackle rides like this is exactly where having a strategy matters.

I walked to my client’s hotel on my own Disneyland vacation. Not because I was staying there; because she was going to be staying there a few weeks later.

Amanda and her family were heading to Disneyland in July with friends, and as I was working through the details of their trip, I wanted to figure out the easiest way for them to get from their hotel to the parks. So while I was at Disneyland myself I took an afternoon to walk over to their hotel to check out the route firsthand. I also checked the route to a nearby shuttle lot so I could compare their options and give them better information for their park days.

It’s one of those little things that doesn’t show up on a vacation quote, but it’s a pretty good example of what I mean when I say I don’t just book the trip. And hearing afterward that they felt prepared and supported throughout their first Disney experience? That’s exactly what I want for the families I work with. Here’s what Amanda shared after their trip:

“Megan was extremely easy to talk to and so knowledgeable. We came to her and she had answers for every little question. She even mapped out our route [from our hotel] to the entrance on her own trip beforehand which was so generous. She made sure the communication lines were open at all points, even in the midst of travel days and on site days. We were well prepped beforehand and had an almost seamless first Disney experience!”

I think Hollywood Studios needed this. Not another attraction to rush toward, but a place where families can play, explore, interact with characters and just enjoy being in the park for a while.

But here’s the travel advisor part of my brain kicking in… 😂

If Animation Courtyard is on your must-do list, I would make sure you actually plan for it. There’s more here than you might realize, and if you want to experience several of the activities, see the shows AND leave some room for those spontaneous character interactions, this could easily take a meaningful chunk of your Hollywood Studios day—especially while everything is still new and people are coming specifically to check it out.

And I would pay attention to the operating hours too. They may not match the park’s full operating day, which can make when you fit it in just as important as how much time you allow.

That’s the part of Disney planning I love: not just telling my clients what’s available, but helping them figure out what’s worth their time and where it actually fits into their day based on what their family wants to experience.

Coming home from Disney should really come with a recovery period. 😂

Obviously I missed my family, but come on! One minute you’re deciding which snack you need next and watching fireworks over the castle. The next you’re answering emails, making dinner and wondering why no one is piping background music through your neighborhood.

If you’re planning an Animal Kingdom day with preschoolers, you’ve probably heard about the new Bluey’s Wild World experience at Disney World.
