"Is a Nile cruise safe?" That's the question we get asked more than any other about Egypt.

A few things surprised us:

A pre-arranged airport meet and greet got us through Cairo immigration in minutes, no lines.

Security screening at hotels and major sites felt normal within a day.

Egypt currently sits at a Level 2 travel advisory, the same level as France and the UK. The real risk we ran into was persistent souvenir vendors, not danger.
