I really had mixed feelings about Prague. It’s a beautiful city to explore and photograph and the sunsets were surprisingly amazing. However, the throngs of crowds in peak summer made it almost unbearable.

Climbing up five flights of stairs to get to my apartment is never fun but if there’s a structure to climb for amazing aerial views while I’m traveling sign me up.

I generally have to plead and bargain with my travel partners to make the trip up with me and I would say that 9 times out of 10 the views don’t disappoint.

Mom and I were the first visitors when we went and there wasn’t even a large group of people behind us waiting to make the ascent.

Brno is the second largest city in Czechia and it’s a relatively short train ride from Budapest.
The imposing Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul located on a hill is one site that’s hard to miss as you explore the city.

Day 3 Budapest:

Our last day in Budapest was a bit overcast but that didn’t stop us from heading to Széchenyi Thermal Bath in the morning after mediocre breakfast. The thermal bath was a nice experience (pro tip spend a little extra for a cabin) but I kind of expected the water to be warmer. After a couple of hours there we walked over to Hero’s Square.

We made our way back towards our hotel, relaxed for a bit and had to decide whether or not to go back out in the rain. We ended up going to the Central Market Hall which was nearby and indoors. There was stall after stall after stall selling Hungarian paprika.

The rain finally lightened up just as we were finishing exploring the market so we went off to find some food and drink. We walked down Zrínyi utca which was full of bars and restaurants and most had a nice view of St. Stephen’s Basilica.

After dinner mom went back to the hotel for some rest and I stayed out to watch the sunset 🌇.

The stunning Hungarian Parliament building in Budapest and is the seat of the National Assembly.
Pro tip: if you want to see inside of the building you will need to book a tour. If you sign up for a tour you’ll be able to see the Hungarian Crown Jewels.
Fun fact: After WWII the Hungarian Crown Jewels were held by the US for safekeeping and stored at Fort Knox. They were returned to Hungary by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.
