Hip Hip HOORAY for this Humpback and our passengers yesterday afternoon! It was probably the jumpiest Humpy we’ve seen all summer. Non-stop for an hour off Huntington Beach. Many awesome videos and photos were captured by all ☺️

Holy stampede! Today’s 1pm private charter witnessed hundreds of Common Dolphins bursting out of the water at high speed. This sort of behavior is not seen too often but is always super memorable! Other sightings today included a Minke and Fin Whale… but these dolphins certainly stole the show 😃🐬

A DOUBLE-double breach!? Have you ever seen one? On Sunday’s 4:15pm Adventure we caught up with this mom and baby pair of Humpback Whales that gave us all a “lifetime memory”. Two times in a row they both launched out of the water at nearly the same time!

Last night we were treated to a mom and baby Humpback playing in a kelp paddy! For these whales, the soft seaweed is like a spa treatment for their flippers and faces. Humpbacks seem to be unique among whales in their intense enjoyment of kelp… sometimes their session will last up to a half an hour or more!

THIS JUST IN! Capt Erica’s Erica Page video from today’s 4:15pm trip. Dozens of breaches from this Humpback Whale! In her 11 year whale watching career, she says it was one of her best Humpback breach events EVER!

Erica Page has also logged 27 trips in a row with whale sightings recently. August is surprising us with really consistent sightings of Humpback and Minke Whales! Let’s keep the party going this weekend 🥳

Boat friendly Humpbacks on Friday! We’ve been seeing Humpbacks nearly every day the past week, and were lucky enough to have one become very curious about our Zodiac. We sat motionless alongside this gentle giant, taking care to keep the boat in neutral so it felt comfortable around us.

On Saturday we were lucky enough to also spot a BLUE WHALE! Which means this week we’ve spotted 4 species of whales on our adventures: Minke, Bryde’s, Humpback, and Blue 😁

Thanks Capt Delaney Delaney Trowbridge for these great vids.

We were so excited to welcome “Chompers” the giant Humpback mom with her new calf to Newport Beach this week! This whale is well known to all in Southern California for her unique “chomping” behavior at the surface. We’re still not sure why she does it but it’s really cool! Then, the calf made a surprise breach right off our bow 😊

Thanks to Capt Delaney Trowbridge and Capt Taylor for contributing their awesome CHOMPERS videos

Let’s hear it for the MINKES🥳. Enjoy these clips from this past week in the blue waters off Newport. Yes, they are our smallest whale, but when combined with clear water visibility and small boats the Minke is actually right up there with Humpbacks as the most boat friendly whale!

It takes a special kind of captain to whisper the Minkes over to the boat, and thankfully our team is pretty good at making these little whales feel comfortable for their close up. Remember, not all encounters are like this… these are “highlights” from a few special trips this week with a few special whales. Never force your boat into close proximity to a whale. If you spend 5-10 hours a day, every day of the week on the water like we do… Minke Magic becomes possible!

Thanks Erica Page and Ryan L for contributing these clips.

WILD DOLPHINS doing wild things this week on one of our Adventures! This pair of Offshore Bottlenose remind us that dolphins can be highly entertaining in their natural environment. Other sightings so far this week include a Humpback Whale, Minke Whales, and loads of Common Dolphins! Most people would agree: Better than SeaWorld 😃

Thanks Capt Delaney Delaney Trowbridge for this awesome video!

Marvelous MINKE WHALE encounters on Saturday; we watched a pair exhibit very rare lunges out of the water and boat friendly behavior! Then to top it off, a pod of Bottlenose rocketed out of the water surfing a large boat wake!

Thanks Capt Erica Page and Delaney Trowbridge for their videos from yesterday!
