From sunrise to sunset, today was an absolutely spectacular day in the Outer Banks! It was a glorious weather day, sunny with a nice breeze - and we spent it on Roanoke Island and the town of Manteo.

We started our visit with a dolphin sightseeing cruise, and the dolphins more than made up for the horses being somewhat absent yesterday! They put on an incredible show, in particular playing with their food and throwing fish high in the air!

After our cruise, people had time for shopping and lunch on their own in town before visiting either the Elizabethan Gardens or the Roanoke Festival Park - a living history museum that 1585 English settlement, featuring the Elizabeth II ship, an American Indian Town, and a museum.

We are starting our journey north tomorrow and will take a lot of spectacular OBX memories with us!

Yesterday we had a relaxing morning and were able to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, and take a walk on the beach. We had another sun-filled day and it showed! Smiles all around! 🙂 We had time for lunch in the town of Duck (and shopping....and ice cream🍦...and maybe an adult beverage) before making our way to Corolla for our "safari". The horses must have been inland after a couple of extremely windy days, but while we didn't see any on the beach, we did tour through the dunes and saw some horses, but we had a GREAT time and we LAUGHED...oh my did we laugh! Somehow, this group has fun no matter what we are doing!

What a day! The sun was shining, and although the wind was whipping, nothing could hinder our full day of adventures! We visited the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills where the national park ranger brought Orville and Wilbur’s first flight to life. We walked the flight paths of their four successful flights before climbing the memorial for an incredible view of their path! Unanimously, we all left in awe of their ingenuity and bravery! The OBX winds then brought us to Jockey Ridge State Park- home to the tallest living sand dunes. Our knowledgable ranger did not disappoint - we learned so much about the dunes and local habitats through anecdotes and humor. We explored the dunes on foot via the newly expanded and extended boardwalk. Many of us also climbed the dunes to enjoy an incredible 360 degree view of the dunes, ocean, and the Sound! After our picnic lunch and dune visit, we took a surprise detour to the Bodie Island Lighthouse all decked out in the iconic black and white stripes. We finished our day at Jimmy's Seafood Buffet which did not disappoint!

Hello from The Outer Banks! Our group arrived at our hotel in Kitty Hawk this afternoon for our 4- night stay. We were welcomed with plenty of sunshine, 🌞 the sand, and the ocean 🙂. So many smiles after a couple of days of driving - the highlights of the day (other than arriving in Kitty Hawk!) were a stop in Cape Charles, VA (a beautiful little town at the end of the Delmarva peninsula and where we first dipped our toes in the sand) AND driving over and under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. What an engineering marvel! We are so excited to see more of the OBX over the next few days.

(Oh, and we have our very own sea turtle on board! 🐢😁).

We had another fantastic day in the 1000 Islands exploring the charming town of Sacekts Harbor - filled with history, friendly people, and beautiful scenery. Our local guide, Connie from the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, was a wealth of information as we traveled through the historic battlefield, and the beautiful United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor with its organ and Tiffany windows. After a delicious lunch there was free time to continue exploring the Battlefield Historic Sites and enjoy strolling through town (where we were greeted with very warm welcomes by local shopkeepers - such a charming town!).

Oh my! Where to begin?? Our 1000 Islands tour is off to a great start! We arrived last night and were welcomed with sunny skies, followed by an incredible sunset after dinner. Today, we were ALL smiles from start to finish (a mid-day ice cream break didn't hurt!).

We started our day aboard the "Island Girl" for our 3 hour tour! (Actually it was 3.5 hours, but way more fun to say "3 hour tour"!) 😄 Our guide Kirk pointed out all sorts of wonderful houses, natural features and regaled us with stories as we traveled into and through Canadian waters on our way back to the US waters and Heart Island, home of Boldt Castle. We toured the Castle and the various outbuildings...parts already beautifully restored and others in the midst of restoration. We walked the gorgeous grounds and picnicked on our boxed lunches - it was fabulous. Then it was back to the boat and our return trip to Clayton.

Having a few minutes before our afternoon at the Anitque Boat Museum, we did the totally Terrapin thing - and got ICE CREAM!! A great treat and pick-me-up for the afternoon activities.

We returned to the hotel for a relaxing evening exploring the town and local restaurants...and if Pam has her way, there will be a fierce evening of trivia at O'Briens across the street!

The Ogunquit Playhouse never disappoints and yesterday's performance of "Ain't Too Proud" was hands down one of their best yet! We were singing along and tapping our toes to the iconic sounds of The Temptations and soaking in the incredible story of this legendry group. Prior to the show, we had a delicious lunch at Clay Hill Farm and enjoyed a stroll through their beautiful grounds.
