What if the thing keeping people away… became the exact reason to show up?
Oak Park Ave is currently under construction, that usually means slower days, less foot traffic, and a tough season to push through.
Instead of waiting it out, the Hemingway District is turning it into something worth coming for.
This Saturday (April 11th, 11–3), they’re hosting a full block party right in the middle of it all.
Think:
• Construction trucks up close (perfect for kids + photos)
• A sand play area with toy cars
• A district-wide scavenger hunt
• Music, and local shopping
• A walkable day to explore and support the businesses that make this area what it is
They’re even putting together a map + coloring book, so you can start at the welcome tent, grab one, and explore the whole district.
And quick tip: parking is easiest at the Avenue Parking Garage (720 North Blvd).
This isn’t just an event, it’s a way to show up for the local spots navigating a long construction season.
If you’ve been meaning to come by… this is your sign.
