The festival and pre-celebrations take place in Historic Opelousas, Louisiana-the Zydeco Music Capital of the World!

Festival Kickoff Events:
🗓 Thursday, August 7th – Opening Reception from 12–1:30pm at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center
✨ Friday, August 8th – Photo Exhibit- Zydeco Memories: Past & Present by Rita Colligan Manuel from 5–7 pm at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center

Step into the soul of Creole culture on Sat., Aug. 16th for Zydeco Unplugged at Le Vieux Village de Poste des Opelousas! This free family-friendly event invites the community to reconnect with Creole heritage through live music, food, crafts, and storytelling.
• Music performances and presentations under the pavilion with Grammy-nominated artist Andre Thierry and more!
• Genealogical presentations tracing the history of families from St. Landry Parish led by Genealogy
• A French-speaking session hosted by Creole Inc. in a historic schoolhouse setting
• Enjoy traditional cuisine from local vendors and shop handmade items from the Opelousas Downtown Market which will be set up on the village grounds

Celebrate the 4th of July weekend at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in ! July racing action will include the Opelousas and John Henry Stakes this Saturday, July 5. Each race will carry a purse of $60,000 and run on the turf course!
