y years later working as a professional fishing guide. To tell you the truth, after years of guiding, I still think about how lucky I am to go fishing for a living. I must be dreaming! I love what I do, and those who have fished with me will testify about the energy and passion I bring to the river each day. I cannot think of a better way to enjoy the day than hooking into a big sturgeon or salmon. I know what a lasting and memorable experience landing a big fish provides and after all these years, they still get my heart pounding. In 25 plus years of guiding for salmon and sturgeon, I have learned a thing or two about the Columbia River Basin fishing. I would love to share all of my knowledge with you and make some great memories. My commitment to honesty is reflected by the number of repeat customers in my boat. I will not spin false fishing tales just to book a trip. I enjoy building lasting relationships with my customers that go far beyond the one-time trip. When the salmon are biting better than the sturgeon, I will tell you. If I think your trip will be more successful if you wait a few weeks, I will tell you. My goal for you is a safe and exciting day on the water while catching lots of fish. And I will do whatever it takes to make that happen. If that means getting on the water an hour before the other guides to get in the prime spot or re-anchoring four or five times to find where the fish are running, I will get it done. If you’re looking for a kill bag that can handle years of hard use without letting you down, this one from Cold Water Strong deserves a serious look.

I just bought my second one, and not because the first one failed. The original has been on my boat for over two years and gets used almost every day I fish. It’s been stuffed with walleye, salmon, sturgeon bait, stepped on, dragged around, and abused in every way imaginable. After all that, it still doesn’t have a single rip or tear, and the zipper works just as good as the day I bought it.

Sure, it’s a little funky smelling these days, and it’s not as pretty as it once was. That’s what happens when a kill bag actually gets used. It probably didn’t help that Dug claimed it as his favorite place to sleep whenever he had the chance.

The bottom line is simple: if you’re in the market for a kill bag and want something that’s built to last, I’d take a serious look at Cold Water Strong. There are plenty of products that look good when they’re new. Very few still impress me after years of hard use.

This one does.
Hands down one of the best investments I’ve made for the boat.

Another great day of Columbia River walleye fishing!

One thing I absolutely love about fishing this river is that while 20 boats are crowded into the same small stretch of water, I seem to have the other 60 miles of river all to myself. 😁

Today was no exception. We caught some beautiful quality walleye, enjoyed a peaceful day on the water, and never saw another boat all day long.

Great fishing, great company, and miles of Columbia River to ourselves. It doesn't get much better than that!

Well, today was one of those days! 😅

For those who know, you know just how much work goes into this. For those who don’t... you really ought to give it a try sometime!

There’s nothing quite like Columbia River trophy sturgeon fishing. Long battles, sore arms, big smiles, and memories that will last a lifetime. These prehistoric giants don’t come easy, but that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding.

Days like today remind us why we keep coming back. 🎣💪

I’m pretty excited to get out on the Columbia River tomorrow morning and see what the walleye think of these new Hooligans.

Now, I’m not a fish, but they sure look good to me! Hopefully the walleye agree. We’ll find out soon enough. 🎣😁

August will be here before we know it, and we're already looking forward to our favorite salmon fishery of the year — Buoy 10!

If you've never experienced it, the fishing can be absolutely incredible, with hard-fighting kings and coho making for action-packed days on the water. And it's not just the fishing that's memorable. It's not uncommon to see sea lions, porpoises, bald eagles, and even whales while we're out chasing salmon.

Today was one of those days where we knew it really didn't matter what decision we made—we were probably going to get our butts kicked by the wind either way.

I decided to roll the dice and fish the area that looked like it would blow the least. Well... let's just say Mother Nature had other plans. It was still blowing like crazy.

Fortunately, the gamble paid off. We ended up putting together some pretty darn good fishing, had a boat full of happy clients, and never saw another boat all day long... except for some young kid running around with CRFA on the side of his boat.

We also spotted a couple furry troublemakers lounging on a navigation can and snapped a quick picture. I'm not exactly their biggest fan, but they were kind enough to sit still for a photo.

Windy, a little wild, and another great day on the water.
