Disney Value vs. Deluxe Resorts: Is the upgrade worth it?

Short Answer: It depends on how you vacation.

VALUE RESORTS
• Lower nightly rates
• Larger than life Disney theming
• A great fit for those spending most of their time in the parks
• Leaves more room in the budget for other vacation experiences

DELUXE RESORTS
• Premium amenities with more dining choices
• Themed pools with waterslides
• Various resorts with walking, monorail or boat access to parks
• Deluxe Extended Evening Hours at select parks on select nights

My take: If your resort is mainly a place to sleep between park days, value is the perfect fit. If pool afternoons, themed dining experiences and relaxing at your resort are a priority, Deluxe is worth the splurge!

Behind this page is a real person-a mom of four, who spends time researching vacations, answering questions, watching for offers, and helping families feel ready for their trips.

Much of that work happens long before anyone packs a suitcase. We are paid by travel suppliers for trips booked through us, and we only get paid once those trips actually travel.

I share that because many people simply don’t know how it works. If we plan a trip together and you book it yourself, we don’t receive anything for the time and care that goes into helping.

There’s never an obligation to book just because we’ve talked. Plans change and I completely understand. But if you’re ready to move forward, letting me handle your booking is what supports my business and lets me continue supporting you along the way.

I often get asked, “How many days do we need at Disney?”

For most first time families, I recommend 5–7 nights with five park days. One day for each park and an extra day at Magic Kingdom. Staying for 7 nights gives you room to incorporate a rest day, which I always recommend with small children! Pool time, naps, and a slower pace can make a big difference.

Can you do a shorter trip? You can. But a little extra time helps you enjoy all what Disney has to offer without feeling rushed.

🚤 Boat rides to Disney Springs! Enjoy a scenic ride down the Sassagoula River for shopping, dining, or even a visit to its neighboring resort, Port Orleans Riverside.

💦 Doubloon Lagoon has a sea serpent waterslide, plus a separate water play area for little ones under 48”.

🐭 Mickey-shaped beignets! My personal favorite snack in all of Disney. You can grab these warm, powdered sugar treats at S**t Cat’s Club Café.
