For nearly my entire life, these landscapes have been waiting for me outside the door.
Before The Wave was famous.
Before social media.
Before photographs of this place traveled around the world and found their way onto millions of screens.
It was simply home.
My name is Tyler Hunter, and after years of staying behind the camera, I thought it was finally time to introduce myself.
I was born here.
I grew up beneath these skies, surrounded by sandstone, endless horizons, and the kind of silence you can feel in your chest.
These deserts were my playground long before they became a destination.
I learned this country by living in it.
By getting lost in it and finding my way home.
By watching storms move across the desert and sunsets set entire cliffs on fire. By feeling the first cold wind of autumn after a long summer. By breathing in that unmistakable smell when rain finally touches the earth.
After years of guiding and nearly a thousand journeys into The Wave and beyond, people often ask how I can still get excited to go back.
The truth?
I don’t know that I could ever stop.
I know the roads. I know the trails. I know the turns in the sandstone and the quiet places where the world seems to disappear.
But somehow, every time I return, it still feels alive.
The light is never the same.
The wind is never the same.
The colors are never the same.
And neither are the people standing beside me.
I’ve watched people round the final rise and suddenly stop in their tracks.
I’ve seen laughter.
I’ve seen tears.
I’ve seen people stand completely silent, trying to take in something they’ve dreamed about for years.
And in those moments, I get to experience The Wave all over again through their eyes.
These roads hold my memories. These landscapes hold pieces of my childhood. This desert is written into me.
I live it.
I breathe it.
I know it.
I feel it.
And yes... I love it.
