We have always been able to keep red snapper caught in state waters (within 3 miles) but they are a structure oriented fish species and therefore are generally out much further than that here in NE Florida. Generally speaking they are found around reefs and wreck sites as close in as 9 to 15 miles and all the way out to the ledge and beyond. Just not within the 3 mile limit.

Well if you thought things couldn’t get worse because our much anticipated opening of Atlantic American Red Snapper Season was going to have some very “sporty” conditions this weekend in NE Florida, well, leave it to the bureaucrats in NOAA to screw it up worse than the weather did for us.
Sorry folks! This is really disappointing to share and take. NO AMERICAN RED SNAPPER SEASON for now anyway. 😢😟😫😩🤬

Beautiful morning and day. Windy and choppy water with lots of weeds everywhere. 2 for 3 on the mahi at 145 feet. Had 50 or more under the boat while drifting, but they wouldn’t bite. Caught these two while on the troll.

Took a little side trip down from Palm Coast to Ft. Pierce to find some Mahi Mahi.
What a beautiful day! Water was gorgeous and so was the sunrise!
