Sometimes a hotel becomes the reason to visit a destination. This feels like one of those.

Capella Bangkok is one of the most exceptional stays in Bangkok. With just 101 rooms and suites, it offers a much more intimate feel than many of the city's larger luxury hotels, all set right along the Chao Phraya River.

One thing that really stands out is the wellness offering. If the spa is on your list, I would recommend reserving treatments before you arrive, as it is one of the hotel's most sought after experiences.

One of the biggest advantages of staying here is the hotel's private pier. You can easily reach iconic sites like Wat Arun and Wat Pho by boat, which is often a much more enjoyable way to explore Bangkok than sitting in traffic.

What is the best way to see the Scottish Highlands? We would argue it's from a five-star hotel that happens to move. You unpack once, and Scotland comes to you.

The Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train winds past lochs, glens, and castle ruins, and the open-air deck at the back might just be the best seat in the country.

Onboard, it's tradition done right: long, formal dinners, a whisky ambassador talking you through tastings you would never find on your own, and live music in the lounge car after dark.

The part nobody expects? The train has its own Dior Spa. You can book a treatment while the Highlands roll by your window.

Step off, and it gets even better, with private castle visits, distillery tours, and clay pigeon shooting on grand country estates.

Horses on a Mykonos hillside, a cave pool, and views across the Aegean. Not exactly what comes to mind when someone says Mykonos.

Kalesma Mykonos is 22 suites above Mykonos Town, most with private pools. You are close enough to walk into everything the island offers, but nothing about this property feels like the Mykonos most people picture.

We also love pairing Mykonos with Paros or Folegandros for a Greek island trip with real variety.

Truffle hunting with trained dogs in the morning. Twenty-seven holes through Tuscan vineyards in the afternoon. Tableside tiramisù at dinner inside a medieval castle. That's a Tuesday at Castelfalfi.

It covers everything Tuscany does well in one place. Five restaurants, including La Rocca inside the original castle. A RAKxa spa with both indoor and outdoor pools. Falconry experiences, a cooking class with the executive chef, and a beekeeping session with the resident beekeeper that ends with a honey tasting.

The estate produces its own wine, olive oil, and wildflower honey, all available to taste and take home. San Gimignano is 30 minutes away, and Volterra is 35, so it works well as a base for the wider region too.

Destinations you might not have heard of: Adelboden, Switzerland.

Where we would have you stay? The Brecon.

Created by London art dealer Grant Maunder, The Brecon feels more like a curated alpine home than a hotel. There are only a handful of rooms, and notably, no TVs and no background music. If you’re looking for a true digital detox, this is it. The design intentionally removes distraction, so the mountains become the main event.

In winter, you are minutes from the Adelboden-Lenk ski area without resort chaos. In summer, hiking trails begin just outside the village, leading to high alpine meadows and panoramic ridge walks.

There is nothing more meaningful than receiving a message like this after a trip. ❤️

This birthday getaway to Post Ranch Inn came together a little last minute, but those are often some of my favorite trips to plan. I love finding little ways to make a special occasion feel even more memorable with thoughtful surprises along the way.

One thing I always tell my clients is that no trip is too big or too small. Whether it is a weekend escape to recharge or a once in a lifetime journey across the world, every trip deserves the same level of care and attention to detail.

Among Aman regulars, Amanoi has a reputation as the one that catches people off guard.

It starts with the setting. The resort is surrounded by Nui Chua National Park, overlooking Vinh Hy Bay on Vietnam’s south-central coast. Most Vietnam itineraries never come anywhere near it. Even the drive in makes it clear this is very different from Hanoi or Hoi An.

Another detail we love: the two private Spa Houses. Each one comes with its own treatment rooms, plunge pool, and either a Turkish hammam or a Russian banya. Very few resorts anywhere in the world offer anything like it.

Pavilions and pool villas are spread across the hillside, and the Beach Club below has some of the calmest swimming and snorkeling on this coast.

If Japan is on your list, Kyoto is non-negotiable. And within Kyoto, so is this.

HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO opened on the site of the Mitsui family estate near Nijo Castle, and the grounds reflect that history. A natural hot spring runs below the property, and the onsen program is among the most considered in Kyoto.
