Pensacola is a hub of activity this Memorial Day Weekend, offering a mix of solemn tributes, massive beach parties, and community celebrations.
Here is what’s happening in and around the city:
🇺🇸 Memorial Tributes & Ceremonies
✦ Veterans Memorial Park Ceremony: On Sunday, May 24th at 1:00 PM, the Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola will host its annual ceremony. It’s a moving way to honor those who have served and fallen.
✦ 11th Annual Pensacola Memorial Day Concert: On Monday, May 25th at 1:00 PM, the Pensacola Civic Band will perform a free patriotic concert at the Hunter Amphitheater (behind Blue Wahoos Stadium). There will be food trucks and Kona Ice, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
🇺🇸 Beach Events & Nightlife
✦ Memorial Weekend Pensacola Beach: This is the largest LGBTQ+ Memorial Day event in North America, running from Thursday, May 21st through Monday, May 25th. Most events are centered around Park East and include DJ sets, beach parties, and themed gatherings.
✦ Official Memorial Day Weekend Bar Crawl: Taking place on Saturday, May 23rd from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, starting at B Side at Vinyl Music Hall. The crawl includes exclusive drink specials and free entry to several downtown bars.
✦ Bands on the Beach: While the Memorial Day specific band (Modern Eldorados) plays on Tuesday, May 26th, the beach boardwalk typically buzzes with live music and crowds throughout the long weekend.
🇺🇸Family & Local Activities
✦ Blue Wahoos Baseball: Check the schedule for home games at Blue Wahoos Stadium, which often features fireworks or special military appreciation themes during this weekend.
✦ National Naval Aviation Museum: A great indoor option if the Florida heat gets too intense. While the Blue Angels are not scheduled to practice on the Friday or Monday of the holiday weekend (their next practice is May 27th), the museum remains a top destination for military history.
As we enjoy the company of friends and family this weekend, our hearts are full of gratitude. This weekend, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. There legacy is the freedom we enjoy today.
