Mauro began in 1973, learned the secrets of Nebbiolo in Alba, and by 1982 produced his first Barbaresco. Today, daughter Martina carries that legacy forward with gentle elegance.

Ciao a tutti,
Have you ever noticed that Italians answer the phone by saying “Pronto”?

It literally means “ready” but ready for what?

To understand this little habit, we need to go back to the early days of the telephone.
Unlike today’s digital lines, early calls didn’t have ringtones or caller ID. The moment someone dialed your number, your phone would ring and as soon as you picked up the line was live.

No time for introductions. You had to be… ready to speak.
And so, Italians began answering with “Pronto!” to signal that they were there, listening, and ready to talk.

It might sound old-fashioned now, but like many Italian traditions, it’s a small gesture full of history and charm.
A word that has nothing to do with technology and everything to do with connection.
