While everyone else is surviving winter break, you could be in Cape Town.

GLO’s South Africa program runs in January, which is peak summer in the southern hemisphere. Think Table Mountain, the Atlantic Seaboard, and a business program built around company visits with executives working at the intersection of African markets and global industry.

This isn’t a tourism program with a classroom attached. It’s a faculty-led seminar that puts you in real boardrooms, asking real questions, in one of the most economically and culturally complex cities in the world. Ubuntu philosophy isn’t a case study here. It’s how business actually gets done.

The group is small. The faculty travels with you the entire time. Everything from accommodation to company visits is handled.

Here’s the part that matters right now: the scholarship deadline for winter programs is tomorrow, October 15th.

Two scholarships are available. The Founders Scholarship is need-based. The Digital Ambassador Fellowship is for students who document their experience during the program. You can apply for both. But you need to be enrolled in a program first, which means today is the day to move.

GLO offers three scholarships, and you can apply for more than one.

→ The Founders Scholarship is need-based. If the program fee is the reason you haven’t applied yet, this is the one. Write a 1,000–2,000 word essay about your goals, how you’re trying to fund the program, and whether this award is what makes or breaks the decision. That last question is the point: GLO built this scholarship for students who genuinely need it, not students who’d go regardless.

→ The Digital Ambassador Fellowship is for students who want to create content during the program: short videos, blogs, social posts documenting the experience. No prior experience required. Just genuine enthusiasm and a willingness to share your trip. It pays out directly upon completion. You build your resume, your LinkedIn, and your content portfolio while you’re abroad.

→ The Alumni Scholarship gives every GLO graduate $500 toward their next program. Go once, come back for less.

Both the Founders Scholarship and Digital Ambassador Fellowship can be applied to in the same cycle, which means you can stack them.

Winter program scholarship deadline: October 15.

You have to be enrolled in a GLO program to apply for either. Which means the first step is applying for the program, not waiting until you have the money figured out.

Winter break can be two weeks of the same routine, or it can be the reason you come back to spring semester with a passport full of stamps and a resume that finally stands out.

This year, GLO is running three winter seminars, each one a different kind of unforgettable.

Winter Europe takes undergrads through London, Paris, and The Hague. Three countries in fourteen days, real business visits with global companies, city tours through the landmarks you have only seen on a screen, and New Year’s Eve in The Hague to close it out. Dates run December 28 through January 10.

Winter South Africa flips the season entirely. While everyone back home is scraping ice off their windshields, you will be landing in Cape Town in the middle of the Southern Hemisphere summer. Thirteen days across two major cities and a national park, built around global business immersion and the kind of scenery that does not fit in a single photo.

Winter MBA is built for graduate students who want their break to move their career forward. Ten days in London and Paris, behind-the-scenes visits with multinational companies, where you pitch your own ideas in a live funding simulation. It is a global business education packed into less than two weeks.

Every seminar is faculty-led, credit-eligible through partner universities, and organized down to the logistics so you can focus on the learning and the experience.

Fifty years ago, GLO started with one belief: that the world is the best classroom there is. 🌍

Since 1977, we’ve helped more than 33,000 students step off campus and into the world, through over 650 faculty-led seminars across Europe, Asia, Africa, Iceland, and beyond. Along the way, they’ve studied in new cities, explored new cultures, and walked through the doors of companies shaping our world, from BMW and Coca-Cola to Chelsea FC and Lloyd’s of London.

Now, in 2027, we’re celebrating 50 golden years. And we’re just getting started.
