Thanks so much to and for flying out to meet us in AZ and celebrating my 40th birthday (a bit early) this weekend! Birthdays are meant to last the whole month 😉

When you’ve been home from a trip for nearly 2 weeks and you’re just getting around to posting the second half of your photos….

Barrio Santa Cruz in Alicante is small and definitely not a secret (ie, lots of tourists). At the same time, it’s absolutely worth a stop on your walk down from Castillo Santa Barbara. The vivid blues, whites, and yellows complement each other perfectly. They also so happen to be the colors of !

This Ray LaMontagne song captures it all. “You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” I feel incredibly grateful to have spent the last 15 years married to this incredible man. He’s kind, funny, supportive, and smart (not to mention very sexy 😉.) Looking forward to what the next 15 years brings! Cheers to you, Adam!

Our next stop was Alicante. We got to see the remains of the Easter celebration at City Hall before walking up through the town to the Castillo de Santa Barbara which featured incredible views of the town, the coastline, and the surrounding mountains!

Since our train to Alicante didn’t leave until early afternoon, we had time in the morning to check out La Lonja de la Seda (previously a building for silk exchange) and the Valencia Cathedral. We also climbed the Miguelete Tower for views over the city!

We were fortunate to have sunny weather in Valencia, so we had to check out the Malvarrosa beach! 🏝️

Day 2 in Valencia we started the morning by exploring the Mercado Central— the variety of fresh produce, meats, baked goods, cheeses, eggs, etc. was impressive! I wish we had somewhere like that to shop on a daily basis!

Next, we headed to the Rusafa neighborhood where we met at their local market (each neighborhood in Valencia has its own market!), toured around, and headed to our paella cooking class. We learned how to make sangria and traditional Valencian paella which, to my delight, does not contain seafood!

In the evening we went to a rooftop bar for sunset. Can you believe the sun doesn’t set here until 20:30 (8:30 PM) in early April?!

After crossing back through the city’s largest park, we returned to the historic center where we stopped at an incredible cocktail bar before a delicious Spanish dinner - a fancy take on patas bravas and the most tender pork 🤤

I fell in love with Valencia! We began our time there with a bike tour around the city— a great way to orient ourselves with the main attractions including the Mercado Central, Turia Park, the City of Arts and Sciences, and the Centro Histórico.

Grab your fork (and your passport!) as we dish on:

The AI Warning: Why relying on AI for travel itineraries can be dangerous—literally. Becki shares a cautionary tale about travelers getting stranded on a mountain in Japan due to AI hallucinations.

The 3-1-1 Philosophy: How spending at least three nights in each destination ensures you actually enjoy your honeymoon instead of just living out of a suitcase.

Maximizing Limited PTO: Strategies for couples who want big adventures but have a limited number of vacation days.

Social Media vs. Reality: How to avoid the trap of “over-planning” based on influencers and instead focus on shared rituals and reconnection.

Consultation vs. Full-Service: The difference between getting a “Dream Trip Blueprint” and having a pro handle every single detail for you.
