Most visitors know Port Canaveral for cruise ships.

But along the waterfront, you can often spot vessels supporting today's space industry.

In this video, Elizabeth points out recovery ships connected to both SpaceX and Blue Origin operations—another reminder that the Space Coast isn't just where space history happened. It's where new chapters are being written every day.

Have you ever spotted a SpaceX or Blue Origin recovery vessel in Port Canaveral?

What looks like an abandoned concrete structure is actually a relic of Cape Canaveral's early missile-testing era.
This blockhouse at Launch Complex 9 (LC-9) was constructed for the NAVAHO, an experimental supersonic cruise missile developed during the 1950s. Although the NAVAHO program never became operational, it played an important role in advancing missile technology during the early Cold War.
Today, the weathered blockhouse stands as a reminder of the pioneering programs that helped establish Cape Canaveral as a major center for aerospace testing and development.

Long before Cape Canaveral became famous for launching astronauts, it served as a testing ground for pioneering missile programs such as the SM-62 Snark and NAVAHO.

Tested from Cape Canaveral during the 1950s, the SM-62 Snark was a long-range guided cruise missile developed during the Cold War. Alongside programs like NAVAHO, it was part of an era of rapid technological advancement that helped establish Cape Canaveral as a major center for missile testing, aerospace research, and innovation.

📍 The SM-62 Snark is part of the Hangar C collection at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Hangar C is currently closed to visitors following the recent stand down.

Before Americans orbited the Earth or walked on the Moon, the Mercury-Redstone program helped prove that human spaceflight was possible.

The Mercury-Redstone launch vehicle carried Alan Shepard on Freedom 7, America's first crewed spaceflight, and later launched Gus Grissom on Liberty Bell 7.

Today, this display at Launch Complex 26 stands as a reminder of the early missions that helped launch the United States into the Space Age.

Two months after Artemis II's journey around the Moon, we're looking back at Apollo 14—the mission that helped return NASA to lunar exploration after Apollo 13. 🚀

The command module Kitty Hawk traveled more than 1 million miles through space with Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Edgar Mitchell aboard.

More than 50 years later, it remains a powerful reminder of the missions that paved the way for the next generation of lunar explorers.

The Old Pioneer Cemetery, located on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, preserves the graves of members of the early Cape community. In 1894, local postmaster Samuel L. Jeffords donated this land to the community after purchasing it to bury his young son.

Today, the cemetery serves as a reminder of the people and stories that shaped Cape Canaveral long before the Space Age.

Long before rockets and launch pads, families lived and worked on the Cape. The cemetery contains the graves of some of its early residents and serves as a reminder that Cape Canaveral was home to a community before it became the Space Coast.

With Hangar C temporarily closed during the stand down following the recent Blue Origin incident, a stop at the Old Pioneer Cemetery offered a chance to explore another piece of Cape Canaveral history.

This historic site will soon be added as a stop on Canaveral Tours.

Tours are expected to resume tomorrow.
