Chocolate Decadence Tour

Chocolate Decadence Tour Indulge in the diversity of chocolate, from bean to bar and beyond! What's more, you'll experience it all through the lens of Portland's vibrant food scene.

Permanently closed.

On this tour we visit multiple chocolatiers, guiding you through 15+ tastings to help you appreciate and master the subtleties of all things chocolate. You'll experience this treat in a myriad of forms: beans, bars, whipped, truffles, cocktails, melted, served as a drink, and some incredible surprises. Our fun and engaging Resident Experts will outline chocolate's lineage from humble bean to tempt

ing confection, leading you through guided tastings to help you better discover and appreciate the nuances of chocolate in its various forms and types. And they are certainly various - be it in the form of a cake, nib, cookie, cocktail or even vinegar or salt, chocolate (and this tour) will surprise you. In a city where food experimentation, quality, and culinary expertise are so highly prized, chocolate is no exception. This fun journey is not just for cacao lovers and closet chocolatiers - all are welcome.

We understand everyone is concerned about COVID-19. We are too.

We have always prided ourselves as guiding our business by our moral compass. We are not just concerned for our bottom line, but take our role in the community very seriously.

This text is to inform you what we are all doing to ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees. It’s understandable that you may be reconsidering your travel to Portland or your outings because of the coronavirus.

WHAT WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING:

* As always, we are ensuring that employees that are not feeling well do not come to work.
* We offer Sick Time Pay if employees need to take care of themselves or their families.
* We are canceling all food tours through the end of May 2020. It is sadly unreasonable for anyone to ensure the cleanliness of partner locations' kitchen, dining areas, and restrooms.
* All employees are required to wash their hands frequently.
* We completed deep cleaning from an outside service provider of our space where we conduct a portion of the Underground Portland and Beyond Bizarre tours.
* Our restroom at Pioneer Courthouse Square has assigned staff to regularly wipe down all door handles and countertops plus it will be weekly deep cleaned from an outside service provider.
* We are often sanitizing communal surface areas and countertops in our box office and both our waiting rooms.
* We will continue to monitor advice and follow best practices from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Multnomah County Oregon Health Authority.

PEACE OF MIND:

* Our tour experiences are only conducted in small groups.
* Because we are on foot and outdoors, we are not confined to tight quarters like a tour bus or van. It’s easy to maintain the recommended 6-foot radius distancing when outside.
* We have canceled all food tours through the end of May so you will not have to worry about being out at an eatery.
* We have canceled all school field trips through the end of May.
* Our tour check-ins will be outdoors in front of our two box office locations. We’re still the only tour company in Portland to have restrooms and you are welcome to use them before and after your tours.
* We have hand hygiene supplies readily available for all people to use inside our locations.
* We will explicitly ask everyone to follow the CDC's recommendations of washing hands, covering coughs & sneezes, and substituting elbow taps for handshakes to prevent illness and help keep everyone safe.
* All tours are (still) backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

YOUR OPTIONS:

* If you are sick or in a higher risk category, please contact us. We will happily get you rebooked for a time you are well again and can fully enjoy all that we have to offer.
* While our tickets sold at our own website are usually non-refundable and non-exchangeable, any changes due to COVID-19 concerns will - at no charge - be transferred to a future tour or receive a gift certificate for the same tour to be used within the next 2 years. This excludes purchases made via third party channels (e.g. TripAdvisor, Get Your Guide, Expedia, etc.) as these partners, unfortunately, are not within our operations.
* All changes must be made at least 48 hours prior to the tour. No changes or refunds will be honored after the tour has elapsed.

SPECIAL OFFERS:

* Use promo code “GETOUTSIDE” to save 20% off any tour or gift certificate this year! Gift certificates are a great option for securing a discount today without the pressure of deciding exact dates and details.
* Consider booking a private event for you, your team, or a group of friends. Get outside! Have a good time! If you place a deposit of $100 or more by May 30, 2020, for a future event completed in 2020, we will honor a 20% discount on your private event too! Just mention this blog post at the time of booking.

Small businesses in Portland, particularly those in tourism and hospitality, are being hit hard at this unprecedented difficult time. We think it’s important for all of us to remember that we’re all in this together and we will get through it – it’s just going to take time, patience and understanding.

Thank you for your continued support!

Do you love Portland? (You must if you're reading this!) But, are you also an outgoing people person with great communication skills? Do you enjoy being the center of attention? Do friends and family tell you that you have a gift for the gab and something of a rapier wit? Are you dependable and responsible? How about having a flexible schedule and just so happen to be looking for a fun part-time position? If this sounds like you, then this could be your dream job. Read on!

We’re winners of the prestigious Travel Portland President's Award and we're the only company that runs tours 365 days a year and average more than 40 events per week during our peak tour season. We are looking for a few superstars (that’d be you) to potentially fill out our roster of Resident Experts (aka "tour guides"). If you have a flexible schedule and are looking for a fun part-time gig, then this could be a great way to supplement your income. Before you read further and begin your audition application, please take a minute to visit our website (Portland Walking Tours) to see all the offerings we have.

Just click on the following link to complete your application... https://ha.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=16

If you've applied in the past, be sure to do so again...we're expanding and always looking for fun folks.

Not already a full-on Portland "expert"? No problem. We do all the training and make sure you're up to speed on current facts. Not a lifelong Portlander? No worries. Recent transplants sometimes make the best and most enthusiastic city ambassadors. Never been a tour guide before? No problem. Did we mention we do all the training? So if you think you have what it takes and if you meet all of the criteria above -- i.e. great people skills, dependable, responsible, have a knack for improv, love being the center of attention, etc. -- then we can't wait to receive your application. Apply today...we'd like to meet you.

Our ideal tour guide is:
* A fun people-person that likes being the center of attention, is witty, enthusiastic, dynamic, calm under pressure, and a confident public speaker.
* Self directed, a quick learner, dependable with strong work ethic and who enjoys working in a flexible environment without direct supervision.
* Very organized and dependable.
* A team player that knows that over-communicating is always preferred to under-communicating.
* Experience in improv, acting or performance a plus; or teaching, since that is all three at once.
* Pays attention to detail -- like this request to tell us about your favorite pet, or your favorite place to eat brunch, and/or your favorite place to eat brunch with your pet, in your cover letter.
* Extra points if you include a link to a headshot or video showcasing your talents.
* Proficient with technology and confident computer user. Note that all scheduling, communication and reporting is done online.
* College graduate a plus, but not required.
* Portland residents preferred, but not required.

Interview dates are limited and are coming up soon, so apply today...
