November 28, 1927: Gordon Nagle bought the Loechel property for $65,000 and tore it down to ultimately build The Nagle Building on Centre Street in Pottsville, in the “rapidly growing section of N Centre St. directly opposite of the new Schuylkill Trust Co. Bank Building. The purchase demonstrates the fact that Sheriff Nagle believes in the future of this city, and is backing it with his splendid ability as a contractor…” (cited from a 1927 newspaper)
May 30, 2025: Century Home Real Estate became apart of this incredible building’s history. It still hasn’t quite sunken in yet… taking over and finishing the restoration of The Nagle Building is an honor and a job we are so proud to carry on and maintain for many many years.
Soon, this building will be one of the only buildings in Downtown Pottsville that is 100% “usable”, meaning every floor, every space, will be occupied.
We are very excited to bring a business to the first floor in just a few weeks. This will fill a [currently] empty storefront; increasing and attracting positive foot traffic on Centre Street.
More updates and history facts will follow, but in the meantime we’re going to get to know this big beauty a little better.
